The Challenge Believe it or not, chicken nuggets were invented by a scientist at Cornell University in the 1960s. Robert C. Baker--who the New York Times called "something of a chicken Edison"--figured out how to process the whole chicken, including some of the less savory parts, into dunk-able, fun shapes (like dinosaurs). Little did this man know that his creation would become the go-to item on every kids' menu across the country.

Hello
...
Anyone else see what is going on here?
I am so aggravated I can't post more.
Mark my words this will be in the MSM next week because of the NC incident.
FWIW I like McNuggets but I'm so upset...and at work...I have to slow down.... I am FUMING!
LOL Less savory parts.
Booties and lips.
Yup. The MO will be the teacher knew exactly what she was doing, and so does the government. Why, these things are even better than an apple. We are from the government and we KNOWWWWWWWWWW! Oh yeah, “WE DO TOO!”, squeaks the MSM.
If I wan't so upset I'd post a link.
Chicken nuggets can always be made better.
Drown them in queso, jalapenas, and pud thai sauce
over chips.
Chicken donuts with a dipping sauce!
YUMMMMMMMM!
Why would you be “FUMING” because a food magazine has a column that includes recipes for healthier versions for common junk foods?? They’ve been doing this for a while now, and have done a number of other ones (egg rolls, cinnabuns, etc.)
Because the reason for the article is to validate the teacher/state rep in NC replacing a parent supplied lunch with an FDA approved one.
Bon Appetit has been doing these “Junk Food Makeover” articles for a while, well before the NC incident. They’ve done cupcakes, cinnabons, pizza pockets, buffalo wings, and a few others. I don’t think there’s a political agenda here, just because this one happens to be about chicken nuggets.
This article is trying to come up with a better chicken nugget, implying that the ones served at schools aren't very good to begin with. Have you ever eaten a "Chicken McLugnut?" They're nasty! But kids love them. Nowhere in the article by "Bon Apatite Magazine" is the NC incident mentioned... And what about the "Tater-Tot Makeover" that's linked there? I don't recall any "tater-tot" incidents in the news recently.
Mark
Yes the incident isn't mentioned but I'll bet it will be referenced in the MSM later as proof the substituted nuggets in NC were better than what the parents supplied.
Whether the Bon Apatite Magazine nugget is better or not is moot. It probably is, but that what the NC schools were supplying?
How could the MSM cite the fact that Bon Appetite magazine published an article with a "better" nugget as proof that the substituted nuggets were better? If anything, it could be cited to show how bad the substituted nuggets were (since the school nuggets are a lot closer to the "before" nugget than to Bon Appetit's "healthier" nugget).
Besides, when have you ever seen the MSM reference a food magazine recipe column as proof of anything??
Whether the magazine's proposal is better or not makes little difference. Most people (I think) read it as a justification of the NC incident.
I could be and probably am wrong but I still don't like it.
Heck this week I'm going to make my version of Skyline Chili so I'm obviously no gourmet...hehehehe.
White Castle makes them, so you know they’ve GOT to be delicious.
Several years ago I read a story about the nuggets sold to school lunch programs. To reduce price they used lower grade chicken.
Some of the chickens were diseased and had puss filled sores which were ground up into the nugget meat. Apparently they were confident the cooking process would kill the bacteria in the puss.
