Newt Gingrichs moon base idea takes center stage at the GOP debate in Florida
If aliens were watching from outer space, even they might have been shocked by the amount of time devoted to space travel in Thursdays presidential debate.
Newt Gingrich excited Floridas struggling space coast this week when he pledged to industry executives that he would colonize the moon by the end of his second presidential term. The big promise drew flak from his GOP rivals, and a question at the debate from a Twitter user who wanted to know how the former speaker planned to pay for a lunar state. Continue Reading

[He’ll only steal a little of MY money for HIS big ideas. The Hell with that.]
Actually, it is a response to the Chinese declaration that they will be establishing a colony and claiming the moon for their purposes.

Newt Visionary ping!
Maybe we should work on being able to send Americans up into Earth’s orbit before committing to a Moon base, just a crazy thought.

Look everybody, I’ve been reading all these posts and I have just one thing to say, the sooner we get to the Moon and dig up the Black Monolith, the better.

I love this idea! I especially love that he plans to free the entrepreneurial Spirit of America to accomplish this. Newt said up to 90% would be free enterprise based. Heck yeah! I hate that at least 10% would be taxpayer funded. Hell no!

******************************************************** Actually I have heard him talk about China several times, but I don't remember them all. The most recent was Greta, on his bus, and it wasn't detailed. He just pointed out it was either do it, or turn it over to China, and a few other points.
There was also a list of articles detailing reasons to do it including national security on one of the threads here several days ago. Below is a link to a long ago article about China.(they are just doing it for the benefit of humanity - doncah know?). Russia has also declared a desire to establish a base on the moon.
