Bob Hope was without a doubt one of the greatest entertainers of all time. A wonderful look at some special moments Bob spent with the troops during his many Christmas performances.
Video at the link.
If you had the pleasure of seeing Bob Hope perform while you were in the Military please share your thoughts.
Merry Christmas!
bump to watch at home.
Excellent entertainer and true patriot. We don’t see too many of those anymore.

NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: When you think of Hollywood legends or at least when I think of Hollywood legends, my next guest really comes to mind. She's a Golden Globe winner, she's a Broadway star, and did I mention, she is oh gosh she is a knockout. On Saturday [August 13, 2005], actress Raquel Welch will be honored by the Vietnam Veterans of America for entertaining the troops with Bob Hope back in 1968.
Thanks for posting, bigbob.
I saw Bob Hope at Bien Hoa over Christmas, 1971.
Very hot and not a dry eye in the croud singing “White Christmas”.
Some of us were pulled directly from the field to fly down there and we were one grubby bunch.
God bless bob Hope. He made a huge difference.
My father-in-law (a WW2 vet) saw Bob Hope performing for the troops in Europes. When looking through some of his ancient slides, we saw a man (looked tiny in the photo) with dark hair standing alone. Looking closer, blowing up the slide - it was a very young Bob Hope. FIL got Bob Hope’s picture, who was more than happy to pose for a soldier.
Thank you and all veterans, for your service.
Bob Hope is an inspiration to us all.
TCM once showed a documentary of Bob Hope USO tours. One scene sticks out in my mind like no other. Bop was entertaining a group of Marines shipping out to the Pacific, - the landing on the island of Peleliu to be exact. As the camera pans the hundreds and hundreds in the audience the narrator mentions that 6 out of every 10 Marines in this panned shot would be casualties on Peleliu. It was a real chill down the spine moment, and still is.
Do yourself a nostalgic favor by taking a gander at two of the most talented entertainers and soft-shoe artistes ever to trod the boards.
You'll thank me for the recommendation, trust me.
(I don't know how to post links here, grrrr, or I would).

Nice story. Thanks for relating.
It sounds like you need a “Thank you for your service”.
The man was amazing...a real supporter of the troops.
That’s awesome! Thanks c_I_c. Bob Hope was one of the best.
Just think, today we get Lady GaGa and ugly, filthy-mouthed rappers. That's entertainment? Gag.
