EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration

EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration Brussels bureaucrats were ridiculed yesterday after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration.

EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact.

Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict, which comes into force in the UK next month.

Last night, critics claimed the EU was at odds with both science and common sense. Conservative MEP Roger Helmer said: “This is stupidity writ large.

“The euro is burning, the EU is falling apart and yet here they are: highly-paid, highly-pensioned officials worrying about the obvious qualities of water and trying to deny us the right to say what is patently true.

“If ever there were an episode which demonstrates the folly of the great European project then this is it.” Related Articles

NHS health guidelines state clearly that drinking water helps avoid dehydration, and that Britons should drink at least 1.2 litres per day.

The Department for Health disputed the wisdom of the new law. A spokesman said: “Of course water hydrates. While we support the EU in preventing false claims about products, we need to exercise common sense as far as possible."...............

He said: “The EU is saying that this does not reduce the risk of dehydration and that is correct.

“This claim is trying to imply that there is something special about bottled water which is not a reasonable claim.”

But dehydration cannot be prevented if one uses dry water.

Now I know where the Monty Python’s Flying Circus script writers all went, they are highly paid Sr. Scientists in the EU.

Either that or they're trying to put all the satirical writers out of business.

Makes me think of the Jackie Chan movie The Tuxedo where water was turned into a weapon and when drank it turned a person to dust.

Oh, let’s spend 3 years to see if lack of air/oxygen have any impact on asphyxiation. We can work on it together, I’m thinking it’s at least a $20 Million study.

Soon the EU will ban the deadly chemical DHMO:

Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO)

The dangers, uses and potential threats posed by this chemical, Dihydrogen Monoxide, are widespread, and some feel, terrifying. Here is just a small taste of what Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) is:

* Some call Dihydrogen Monoxide the "Invisible Killer"
* Others think dihydrogen monoxide should be Banned
* Dihydrogen Monoxide is linked to gun violence
* Dihydrogen monoxide was found at every recent school shooting
* Athletes use DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE, or DHMO, to enhance performance
* Dihydrogen Monoxide has been found in our rivers, lakes, oceans and streams
* Dihydrogen Monoxide is a major component of acid rain
* Thousands die each year after inhaling dihydrogen monoxide
* Dihydrogen Monoxide can be deadly

A smart advertiser would use this idiocy to his advantage.

“The EU claims drinking water does not prevent dehydration.” Followed by a popular soccer team rolling on the ground laughing. The EU needs to be the brunt of many Soviet jokes.

They ruled against water but they also claimed that H2O works perfectly okay for hydration.

The best way to deal with this nonsense is to (prevent the “scientists” and bureaucrats who came up with this ruling, and ANYONE who tries to defend it at all), from consuming ANYTHING that contains water in any way, shape or form.

Then leave them on a beach in the Azores in the last week of July.
