FTM Weekly's Jerry Robinson interviewed "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" author and investor Robert Kiyosaki during which Kiyosaki had these comments re: Occupy Wall Street:
"This has happened throughout history. Back in the Industrial Revolution those people were called "Luddites" and Luddites went out and protested factories because factories were replacing workres. Being called a Luddite back then, y'know today they call it (unintelligible) Wall Street guys (referring to OWS - ed.).
But, anyway, the world has changed. Y'know, Donald [Trump] and I say the economy has moved on. It's not coming back. And, y'know, you look at the Post Office workers - they're begging for their jobs. But, who uses the Post Office anymore? Or those people who are journalists - y'know, the journalists are losing their jobs now because of the Web.
So, to sit there and expect the government to take care of you is actually Communism. I don't have much empathy. I was a former Marine pilot. I didn't fight for Communism or Socialism. I fought for Capitalism."
Kiyosaki is a con artist that preys on young impressional kids and pushes them into Amway schemes with the delusions they are going to be rich. He is correct about OWS, however.
I agree.
IMHO, it is also Greed, Envy, Sloth, Wrath and Pride.
In short, it’s a ‘gimme’ move. Not a movement. A move to make a grab for others’ stuff and money, by hook OR BY CROOK.
That’s simple. It’s sin.
I don’t like the idea of someone wanting me to be just like someone else in any fashion. Nor do I think these people like that idea. I don’t know what they’ll protest after this, but they’ll find something. Having some nameless, faceless government functionary telling me thus and so and/or allocating a set of stuff to me ‘because.’
I hear a lot of ‘because’ from these people. Like they’re three and a half.
He may be correct about OWS, but he is wrong about the economy when he says the economy has moved on and is not coming back, and comparing the changes to the invention of the factory.
His analogy fits postal workers that have been made redundant by email, but it doesn’t fit the larger part of the work force, that has been laid off, not to automation, but due to the outsourcing of jobs overseas.
That should never have happened to the extent that it did. And it is reversible. That’s a direct consequence of our trade policies and record low tariffs.
That’s capitalism.....FREEDOM ....to do good or bad. FREEDOM from GOD. I had used R K ideas and it has work for me.
Well at least he got this one right....

Didn’t know that, but not surprised. Most household names in that context wind up making their money by tricking others in various ways.
Given that, it wouldn’t surprise me if he sees an opening here, by calling out the brats for what they are, when even most of the Republican leaders in the country refuse to.

Technically you’re right. We could get those job back, we’d just have to adapt to a lifestyle more like Bulgaria. And that’s because we also need to decapitate our unions and return to common sense regarding environmental and labor laws.
Not sure what you mean with this post.
Last thing I read by him talked about financial responsibility and gave examples of ways people got ahead in life.
While some of the example he gave are not typical I believe most of his writings have been a net positive for society.
Are you suggesting he is a con artist because he is trying to sell a lot of books or because he focuses on things like real estate and alternative streams of income?
How much money did he con from you?
If you actually read his books, you would know that he said that you have to learn how to sell and that mlm programs often have good sales training programs. I never head him tell people that they were going to get rich doing this. It was more about gaining experience.
I.e. The rich often work for experience not the money. (the money will follow later).
No we wouldn't. We'd still use cheap overseas labor but only to the extent that we needed labor in excess of our own full employment.
It would drive the cost of some goods up. But what is it costing us to have all of these unemployed people? A lot! It would be cheaper overall to have more expensive goods, made in America. And it would be much better for the nation.
“No we wouldn’t. We’d still use cheap overseas labor but only to the extent that we needed labor in excess of our own full employment.”
Actually we were doing that for much of Clinton’s and Bush-43’s term, when unemployment was about as low as it can get. But we still kept losing more and more ground...and the unions continued to drive more and more companies out of business.

I'm not fond of unions, but this is not the union's fault. We could have never had a union in this country, and we still would have higher wages than the $2/day paid in China. We could get rid of all taxation and government regulation and we still wouldn't be competitive with the $2/day wages paid in China.
And unless we want to reduce our wages to the Chinese level, we'd better figure out a way to restrict imports from them and to restrict their use of proceeds to buying U.S. manufactured goods instead of U.S. companies.
