Local offshoots of the Occupy Wall Street demonstration that has taken over a park in New York's financial district are being organized in Wisconsin.
Participants have rallied near Wall Street for three weeks against what they perceive as corporate greed and economic inequality. A flash point sparked over the weekend when about 700 participants were arrested as they marched in vehicle travel lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Organizers in Milwaukee, Madison and Appleton are planning rallies Oct. 15 as part of an International Day of Action in support of the protests.
Organizers of the Milwaukee event plan a rally at the Chase Bank branch in downtown Milwaukee, according to Facebook page set up for the event. Those in Madison plan a rally "on or around" Oct. 15 at the State Capitol square. Both pages were linked to a site put together by organizers of the Wall Street rally that was featured in Monday's Wall Street Journal.
The Occupy Milwaukee Facebook page created a week ago had nearly 2,000 followers Monday afternoon while Madison's page had more than 2,200 followers. A page for Appleton has more than 500 followers.
Wisconsin? I assume there is an indoor venue there?
Zombie alert ping!
Great, just what WI needs. More hipsters screaming on the streets.
—People get ready...—
I have been waiting for almost three years for a “critical mass” event to finally collapse the house of cards. Could these silly rally’s be it?
Or will these events just be the multiple exploding-bridgewire detonator for the REAL critical mass explosion.
I wonder if we took photographs of the protesters at the Wisconsin capitol earlier this year and compared them to the protesters on Wall Street if we would see a lot of the same people running the protests.
—near Wall Street for three weeks —
Gerald Celente warned “When people have lost everything and have nothing to lose, they lose it.”
I think we may finally be seeing that critical mass in action. these folks, missguided though their proposed solutions may be, have no jobs and are beginning to figure out that they and their country have no future. So they have the time and inclination to “lose it”. It is possible these really could go nationwide and, possibly, go violent, with the right catalyst.
Well if it gets chilly out and they need to take a leak or sleep over for a few weeks, there’s always the Capitol building...
Just wondering....who the heck pays for the i phones they all seem to have, as well as travel money? Who is paying their rent while they are “protesting”? Who is paying for the college bill they seem to be complaining about? Who is taking care of their family and pets while they “travel” the US in their protests?
And what the heck exactly are they protesting against?
Shhhhhh! Don’t tell them it gets cold there.
George Soros, Tides Foundation, Ford Foundation and re elect Obama.
“Participants have rallied near Wall Street for three weeks against what they perceive as corporate greed and economic inequality.”
Economic inequality? I’d suggest spending less time protesting and more time actually gaining skills or doing WORK.
These people do not want responsibility they want hand outs. They want to have their school loans forgiven.
Have you seen any of the videos? If they have "no jobs" who the heck is paying for all their i phones? Who is paying the rent? Who is taking care of their families and pets while they are out "protesting"?
Most of these are unemployed rich spoiled-brat humanities majors who have never actually had a coherent thought in their entire lives, and have done only about 2 hours and 37 minutes of actual labor since birth. They are not angry because they don't have jobs. They are angry because, upon graduation, they will be required to get them.

The people who’ve lost the most under 0bama and the rest of the Corruptocracy are the ones at Tea Party rallies. These Leftish protesters seem to be mostly trust-funders, chronic college students and the other usual whining ne’er-do-wells who don’t have a lot to worry about nor the brains to worry with.
I don’t think these “Occupy” protests mean squat except as an annoyance and opportunity to watch dumb animals without paying an admission fee at the zoo.
We don't have to take photographs of them. They're all doing it themselves with their i phones and expensive equipment "to get the word out". I just wonder, if they have no job or money, who is paying for these i phones and equipment?
