Nobel Laureate Brian Josephson To Test an E-Cat on October 6th

Daniele Passerini’s blog 22 Passi d’amore e dintorni has an announcement from Dr. Brian Josephson, retired Cambridge University physics professor regarding an upcoming test that he will carry out on one of Andrea Rossi’s E-Cats:

On October 6th we will have the opportunity to make a long (more then 12 hours) of testing one of the modules of the RC 1 MW generator. The module will be Opened to us and we will have the opportunity to verify weights and volumes of the internal components. Heat measurements will be done at condensing the steam produced in heat exchanger and a secondary circuit where no water will be vaporized. This is NOT an official test of the University of Bologna Because the contract is not active yet.

It’s no clear from this announcement where this testing will be taking place, but presumably it will be done in Uppsala, Sweden where Rossi has announced that testing will be taking place in October. Brian Josephson was a winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1973. Regarding Dr. Josephson’s testing, Andrea Rossi stated:

The measurement of energy will not therefore be made on the steam, to avoid all the issues concerning the quality of the steam, but the measurements of energy will be made on the delta T of the water of the secondary circuit heated by the steam! This way, the amount of energy produced will be calculated in an undisputable way. The steam runs in a primary circuit, which is a closed loop, where the steam is condensed after exchanging heat with the water of the secondary circuit, which will never evaporate. Therefore, the energy is calculated on the base of the delta T of the heated water and its flow rate, indipendently from the temperature of the steam, that does not enter in the energy calculation parameters.

From this statement it is clear that Rossi is trying his best to nullify the ‘wet steam’ issue that many people have been speculating on after analyzing videos of the E-Cat that were released earlier this summer. Dr. Josephson’s background in theoretical physics should give some authority to any reports he makes; it will be interesting to see what he finds out, and how his report is received by those who are anxious to hear some definite conclusions regarding the E-Cat.

This is an interesting bit of news on the E-cat (for anyone not familiar with it, it's an invention that, if not a scam, I would modestly describe as the greatest single invention in history.)

Yes, Josephson is a bit of a flake, his Nobel prize notwithstanding. But the news that he will have extended access to test an E-cat is significant. If this bit of news is not refuted/withdrawn, then either Josephson will be satisfied with the Oct. 6 testing or now. If he says he is, then the Naysayers will have to include him in their list of insider accomplices to fraud. If he's not, then the whole thing starts to unravel.

Looks like the run-up to the big public 1 MW demonstration later in October will not be so dull and quiet as I thought it might.

Sigh... I meant to say ‘Oct. 6 testing or NOT’ not ‘now’. My apologies.

This is one of those things that I really hope is true. If it is, there's a new dawn coming...

How, cheap energy?

Put me in the dubious camp. Very dubious.

I’m a hopeful skeptic I guess. What’s flaky about Josephson?

No, Einstein. It's an e-Cat. It means you won't have to deal with a litterbox, fleas, and all that fur on your navy blazer anymore.

The real question is: Did the cat do its business in the box? The answer depends on the observer.

He’s into parapsychology, which I consider flaky at least. (Cf. his wikipedia page.)

She's not running. It's too late to declare, and besides, she'll never overcome Romney Perry Cain...

Cheers!

If the durn thing is a hoax, it must by now qualify as history’s most elaborate and least logically motivated.

From what I’ve read, it would not only be cheap energy, but the size makes it possible for a household to have its own power plant. Think what that could do in remote areas or third world countries.

If so, why couldn’t it be mounted in a truck or locomotive?

Or ship, FTM.

Rossi has indicated there is already work being done along those lines.

The E-cat produces heat, though, and the technology to convert heat to motion or electricity, while straightforward, needs some adaptation to smaller vehicles and safe home-friendly designs. So we'd expect it to show up in trains and ships first, and home water heaters (and residential heating systems). Then after a year or two of furious development, expect to start seeing vehicles and home power plants using E-cat technology. That's the hope, anyway.

Going to be interesting next month. If this 10/6 test is successful, coverage of the unveiling of the 1MW unit will become a big big deal in the news. At least is should.

*** I thought there had already been at least one experiment which did not involve a phase change.
