Rick Perry is not much different than Lyndon B. Johnson.

Posted on 09/23/2011 8:26:34 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I guess I don't have a heart by posting this, eh ? Mark my words, this guy is not a conservative. He did more to defend the legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson last night than promote Goldwater-Reagan conservatism. When my mom was born in the 1960s, the United States had been enjoying a time of great economic prosperity under the leadership of John Kennedy and Dwight Eisenhower. A tragedy in Dallas left the country into the hands of Texan who may have been a good dad to his daughters, but he was a nightmare that is still haunting the USA. As the nation was healing from the loss of President Kennedy, President Johnson used words like Perry used last night to play on the feelings of a Christian/Catholic country that they needed a "great society" as if America wasnt already great. It was a massive financial fraud and it destroyed the trust people had in the Democratic party for years. Playing on peoples hearts.

Rick Perry is not a conservative. Rick Perry will take your money and try to build some "Mexican Great Society" in the American Southwest. If you get this S.O.B. elected, he will be a big governement Republican that would continue many Obama policies. He is not being honest to you when he talks about social security. He wouldn't touch anything. Lord help us, the money printing would continue and the US dollar would then eventually need replaced for real.

I hope and pray Sarah Palin gets in the race.

Do you think Perry will keep the same party establishment figures out of his administration ? heck no

I don't think we have to worry about that.

Perry has been destroyed. Romney will be the nominee.

A right wing third party candidate will run which will fracture the GOP -- maybe permanently, and Obambi will win with a plurality.

But, at least we will have kept that 2A supporting, abortion fighting, regulation busting, tax lowering, job creating, LBJ clone Rick Perry out of the Oval Office!!

Simply replacing Obama is not good enough. We need a real conservative realignment in the electorate to save this country.

We need to re write the political map, the script. everything. It happened for Republicans in 1980. It happened for Democrats in 1932.

we need a poltical earthquake.

You'll get a chance to see first hand what "not a conservative" is when Mitt Romney becomes our nominee. I hope that is what you guys hoped to help along with all your gratuitous Perry bashing, because it is almost assuredly coming.

What nasty sour grapes to throw in the faces of your compatriots. For shame.

Perry has never been a conservative, and has rightfully been exposed as such by the normal vetting process, and his own public statements. In truth, the man should not have been running for president at such a time in our history as this. Neither should Mitt, but he's just a bit slicker than Rick, and will take a little longer to step on his own tongue.

In the meantime, all hope is not lost. There is another.

>>>>>>I like to tell the truth !

Ha!

Here's some truth for you. Eisenhower was a moderate Republican who was a caretaker for FDR's New Deal policies and lead America through a period of prosperity following WWII and the Korean War. JFK and LBJ were liberal Democrats who had similiar policies in common. JFK's New Frontier was the immediate forerunner of the Great Society and both programs built on FDR's New Deal and Truman's Fair Deal. Theses Democrats are no differeent than Obama. They all used or supported using social engineering and class warfare to undermine US society, the Constitution and our Republic.

Rick Perry is a conservative, "pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America". Perry believes "in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty".

Perry has nothing in common with LBJ!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT OBAMA THAT SOME OF YOU DON'T GET?

What is it about Perry that you don't get? We can, and must do better.

You don’t deserve to have that screen name.

I can’t stand Ron Paul. You know who my candidate is. I wish I would have been around in 1979, the last time guys like me were being rejected as loons like this within the party. What happened a year later ?

Just reality FRiend.

Sit back and watch. Mitt will now almost definitely be our standard bearer come November.

I don't think most of the Perry bashers on here acted out of malice. I think they were honestly trying to help. On the other hand Bachmann and Santorum knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

I will also acknowledge that Perry himself ultimately deserves the blame. He was unable to defend himself from the constant barrage of criticisms he faced. Some were legit (tuition for illegals), and some were ridiculous bashing (this bizarre LBJ thread as a prime example), but he needed to demonstrate he could overcome it, and he failed.

Bottom line is Romney has managed to knock out the only conservative with a legit chance at beating him for the nomination, and he barely had to lift a finger to do it.

I know some on here are euphoric, but I think it really, really sucks.

by writing off Perry we are left with Mitt Romney...

Why so weepy? Perry and Romney aren't really all that far apart. They're both centrist Moderates who blow with the breeze.

I believe that Perry has torpedoed himself, but Mitt is not acceptable to the vast majority of center-right voters. The race does not automatically fall to him by default.

Now, if I honestly felt that we were down to just those two as our final choices, I'd pick Perry over Romney in a heartbeat, and without a second thought. At least he served honorably in the US Air Force, and has been a more or less capable steward of the state of Texas.

He already got my vote twice under similar circumstances, but this time we have to do better. And we will.

Romney will not be our standard bearer come November. Of that, I am certain. He is unacceptable to the vast majority of center-right voters, who understand that our country is in mortal danger of going under from the near-fatal barrage from the Obama left.

Palin will enter soon, and will be the standard bearer that Perry can not be.

"Heartless?" Beats aiding and abetting invaders.

Rick screwed the pooch with that one, and there is no way I will even attempt to defend it.

As I said above, he ultimately deserves the blame for his failure.

I'm just disappointed because we could have had a guy who was a true conservative with about 98% of his policies, and then we could have held his feet to the fire on immigration and a couple of other lesser issues. He had already demonstrated after the Gardasil debacle that he was willing to listen and change in response to conservative criticism of his proposals.

Instead, we are left with a guy who most of us will agree with very infrequently. Worse, his nomination will split the party, and will almost definitely assure an Obama second term.

I would love to believe there is a true blooded conservative white knight out there ready to ride in and save the day, but I have to admit I'm having trouble seeing him (or her) on the horizon.

I think Romney is the guy, and I couldn't be more disappointed about it.

Pedro Perry is a lot like LBJ. Perry is a Democrat who voted for Gore so he is a Dem at heart like LBJ.

Pedro is probably less corrupt than LBJ but that is not hard. Senor Perry is less liberal but LBJ probably would not let illegals overrun Texas.

Amigo Perry is far more like LBJ than the other GOP caniddates except maybe Romney. Perry is less creepy than LBJ who. Newt gets my vote for creepyness.

1. Sanotorum
2. Bachmann (second choice)
