I guess I don't have a heart by posting this, eh ? Mark my words, this guy is not a conservative. He did more to defend the legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson last night than promote Goldwater-Reagan conservatism. When my mom was born in the 1960s, the United States had been enjoying a time of great economic prosperity under the leadership of John Kennedy and Dwight Eisenhower. A tragedy in Dallas left the country into the hands of Texan who may have been a good dad to his daughters, but he was a nightmare that is still haunting the USA. As the nation was healing from the loss of President Kennedy, President Johnson used words like Perry used last night to play on the feelings of a Christian/Catholic country that they needed a "great society" as if America wasnt already great. It was a massive financial fraud and it destroyed the trust people had in the Democratic party for years. Playing on peoples hearts.
Rick Perry is not a conservative. Rick Perry will take your money and try to build some "Mexican Great Society" in the American Southwest. If you get this S.O.B. elected, he will be a big governement Republican that would continue many Obama policies. He is not being honest to you when he talks about social security. He wouldn't touch anything. Lord help us, the money printing would continue and the US dollar would then eventually need replaced for real.
I hope and pray Sarah Palin gets in the race.
LOL Rick Perry is nothing like LBJ.
You’re nuts!
He is like LBJ in this way...
he is not a conservative
Put that bad boy in the White House he'll turn on a dime.
You sure like to post vanities.
There are no true conservatives running for the White House.
And yes Subsidy Santorum is included.
Hmmmmm...FR going the way of the Onion?? You really aren’t serious, are you?
I like to tell the truth !
I would respond with paragraphs of rebuttal. However I have a life and an acute awareness of history.
My suggestion ... get out of you mothers basement and study history.
You’re as paranoid as the poster of this thread.
Read my post in its context. and then look at the title again. the whole overall point is that he is not a conservative
OK, if you say so.
lol. Good one.
These people kill me acting as if there is some standard bearer 100% conservative in the race...each candidate has their flaws...it seems MOST are willing to be honest about them.
Such vitriol to the OP.
He does have a point: Both are cases of Texas swagger, and a liberal bent.
LBJ’s realtime downfall was Vietnam. The great society downfall took many years to materialize.
You'll get a chance to see first hand what "not a conservative" is when Mitt Romney becomes our nominee.
I hope that is what you guys hoped to help along with all your gratuitous Perry bashing, because it is almost assuredly coming.
First of all, I will second your prayers that Sarah will enter the race.
Having said that, I will suggest that there is one big difference between Perry and LBJ:
Perry has spent his political career as a state politician having to fight inane federal policies like the recently announced Cross State Air Pollution Rule. I think he understands that centralized policies crafted by folks who have never visited the area are not necessarily the best ones.
LBJ, on the other hand, spent most of his political career at the Federal Level —House and Senate. As a result, he assumed that the federal response was best.
I am paranoid ? I am paranoid ? Look what President Bush tried to do to get the latino vote as he was being advised by idiots like Michael Gerson. Do you think Perry will keep the same party establishment figures out of his administration ? heck no
I agree only with the last sentence.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT OBAMA THAT SOME OF YOU DON'T GET?
I wouldn’t say that. I’m just not buying the Rickroll.
