The Democratic Partys rare loss of a congressional seat in its urban heartland Tuesday, accompanied by a blowout defeat in a Nevada special election, marked the latest in a string of demoralizing setbacks that threatened to deepen the partys crisis of confidence and raise concerns about President Barack Obamas political fortunes.
In New York, Bob Turner(R) soundly defeated Democrat David Weprin in a House contest that in the view of party leaders, at least featured an anemic urban machine, distracted labor unions, and disloyal voters. In Nevada, a consequential state for the presidents re-election strategy, Democrats suffered a runaway loss rooted in a weak showing in Renos Washoe County, a key bellwether.
Even before the polls closed, the recriminations something short of panic, and considerably more than mere grumbling had begun. On a high-level campaign conference call Tuesday afternoon, Democratic donors and strategists commiserated over their disappointment in Obama. A source on the call described the mood as awful.
People feel betrayed, disappointed, furious, disgusted, hopeless, said the source.
Less expansive but equally telling were the remarks of House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, who in a conversation with reporters Tuesday morning said bluntly that Obama would take some blame for the two special election losses.
I think every election reflects on the person in charge, but do I think it is an overall statement on the president alone? No, said Hoyer. Do I think it will be interpreted as being a statement on Obama? Thats probably correct.
A senior Hill Democratic aide was more direct in attempting to explain the New York loss: The approval ratings for the guy at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue cratered.
A Turner consultant, Steve Goldberg, validated that assessment: It was all Obama not even a thought of anything else.

Note that I did not say "GOP super majority", but rather "conservative super majority". The RINOs become meaningless once they cease to be swing votes. My guess is that if we can get to 67 conservative Senators, the RINOs will magically start voting conservative (trying to hold onto party support, so they don't get primaried).
The fight must be fought..... at church, at Thanksgiving, at school, at the Audubon society, at the Sierra Club, at the local newspaper and TV station, at any place where moonbats or wannabe moonbats gather. Any effort lees than total war is loss
“disloyal voters”?
I think you are right.
The Democrats show no signs of putting up an opponent.
They are going to follow him down the bowl when Democrats are flushed in 2012. They seem to be totally ignorant of the feelings that are growing in America against his policies, or lack of them.
I believe the true problem is that they are frightened of their uber-left wing.
Ah yes! But remember that Republicans are masters at snatching Defeat from the hands of Victory!
But these clowns are not about to change. Those left in the dem party are outright socialist/statists or Marxists. All the rest are either indys or us.
If they didn't have the ability to lie and then get the DBM to promote their lies over and over they would be finished once and for all.
“...we have completely lost the information war.”
That’s the truth.
I am old enough that when people characterize 3 years as “a long time”, I always do a little mental double take. But, it really is *a long time* for most people and that is a very good thing.
LOL-—with his resume, he’s prime presidential material.
IDK, Hillary could push the fact that she actually is married to the country's first black president. His office was in Harlem, after all.
oh yeah. lol
Most are weak willed and the slightest kick in the ass will straighten them out. Remember they are a bigger problem than the dems since they are the enemy from within. Take McCain for example, he had to run as a conservative and were it not for Sarah he would have lost.
He knows that and should begin to realize that he can't kiss up to the left too much or we will kick his ass again. We have to lean on these weak willed bozos to the point where they are scared to death to cross us.
They honestly believe the growing discontent with Obama is because he's failed to be liberal enough!
You really can piss on them and tell them it's raining.
Running Hillary wouldn’t help at all. They would lose “Holder’s people” and gain little or nothing. The women of America do not want Hillary in the White House, they told us that in the 2008 primary season. If they wanted her she would be there now. Women are the majority of registered voters but twelve percent of them are “Holder’s people” and will not vote for Hillary and most of the rest don’t want a woman in the office anyway. I was fooled when Obama was nominated, I thought Hillary would have been a stronger candidate than Obama, I have seen the folly of that view since.
“And then, we must move with lightning speed. The key will be to keep the Leftist media too stirred up by the next step to continue battling the last step.”
Amen! That is what Walker did in WI and I heard the (if you can believe it) conservative Republican Governor of Puerto Rico say he did.
That’s why the agenda needs to be lined up right away. I would venture we all know the first step: REPEAL AND REPLACE Obama care. I think the replace part is important because there WERE a lot of problems with insurance and replacement will also ensure the vampire stays dead.
I won’t go into details here, but we do need to have a plan to implement, like the contract with America.
I looked last night—nada, zilch! Guess the excitement over Turner’s win overshadowed Amodei’s victory. But would be nice if some one who (unlike me)knows how to link to an article would start one.
*rubbing eyes*....am I reading this right????....or is this a satire thread? :)
A DEMOCRAT JEW LOST THE JEWISH VOTE.
That should be the real headline!
Democrats can say what they want, but in PR headlines are everything.
