Obama was speaking to a Union audiance today and stated he'd give them a taste of his Jobs speech. If you have seen this, answer me a question. Is he seriously going to announce that there are plenty of bridges and roads that need fixing? Does he think we don't know that THOSE type of jobs are paid for with the working population's money? I.E., taxes? Mr. President the federal government along with the majority of state governments are B-R-O-K-E!
Even without sarcasm, those trains will never be allowed to go really fast in most places.
Yes but as Robert Reich reminded us, such jobs tend to favor white males.
And Obama said there was no such thing as a shovel-ready job, in such a tone as to imply we should never expect any payout from the bailout.

He doesn’t have a plan. Never has had one. Couldn’t lay out a plan while he was a candidate because he didn’t have a clue. Now almost three years in, he still doesn’t have a clue.

Of course they would, I have been saying for years that we have finally reached a point where anyone who says what used to be plain common sense, as incontrovertible as the sunrise, is called an extremist nut case while those who spout utter nonsense that would have been seen only in a bizarre comedy sketch a few generations ago is hailed as a genius or even a “Messiah”. I hope we are about to see the pendulum reverse.

So we increase taxes and borrow trillions more from the Chinese to build roads and bridges, what happens to all these jobs once the roads and bridges are built? Do we just tax and borrow more to do another temporary project? Obama has no understanding that government make work jobs are just temporary and when the government money runs out these jobs vanish. During the Great Depression all of FDR’s alphabet soup of government jobs programs did nothing to help unemployment in the long term. The unemployment rate in 1938 was little different than in 1932. Real jobs are only created by self sustaining businesses.

Foresaking common sense is a luxury only a very rich nation can afford. We can no longer afford it, because we have spent so much and weaken our productive faculties so much engaging the fantasies of our “elites”.
