SAN DIEGO (AP) -- San Diego police say a boy throwing rocks at vehicles was struck in the abdomen by a crossbow bolt fired by a passenger in small sport utility vehicle.
Officer Dino Delimitros says the boy and a friend were throwing rocks in the Linda Vista neighborhood Monday afternoon when a passenger in a black Toyota RAV4 pulled out a crossbow and fired.

I-43 north of downtown Milwaukee has a "pedestrian" overpass. The DOT backed the chain-link fence with a smaller mesh fencing to prevent attacks as you describe. The local porch monkeys, not stymied by the fine mesh, took to hauling buckets of sand on to the bridge. They waited for a motorcycle to pass then dumped their sand as it passed under them. There were several serious injury accidents. Don't know if the little miscreants were ever caught but the attacks went away after awhile.

I think you mean broadheads. They are great on wild pigs and javelina, which are very tasty. One of the commenters was wondering why both punks weren’t hit with bolts. He obviously doesn’t have a crossbow. They take more than a few seconds to reload. I live in a big midwestern city and have used them on rats, squirrels, crows and pigeons with great success.
When I was a kid, I never, never, never--even on my baddest, angry-at-life day--would have thrown a rock at a car under any circumstances, and certainly not from an overpass where it could easily kill people.
What kind of useless psycho kid would do something like that? (And I don't care how abused a childhood he might be having. No justification for such behavior.)
These two little Ernest T Bass Rockchucker inductees are lucky they only got shot an not moved out of the way in a more aggressive an simple manner. Bugs wash right off these bumpers.....

Crossbows are the preferred weapon of choice when hunting zombies.
at the same age or younger, we were out en force just after a storm. Several of us scored fastball direct hits. As the driver jumped out, one of our crew threw a sky ball. The guy was in his third sentence of screaming at us when thump - the sky ball hit in the middle of the windshield. We laughed until we cried, then cried some more when the guy found our parents. No matter what we said, we just could not convince anybody the the sky ball was thrown before the guy got out. That was the end of my throwing stuff at cars career.
It takes a bit of time to reload a crossbow so getting two shots off, crapping one’s pants (I can’t believe I hit the little f*****!) after the first one, would have been tricky. Should have used a long bow.
I remember reading of a case some years ago in San Diego, near where this incident happened, of someone driving on I-805 at 2 a.m. when someone threw a large rock from an overpass which went through his windshield—the driver survived but his wife sitting on the passenger side was killed.
It is tough to find mithril these days. Too many Balrogs in the deep mines.
This sounds like the incident I was referring to in my post #70.
Hell yea
That’s what I need
A good freaking zombie slaughtefest!
A crossbow of the full sized variety would be next to impossible to cock for a second shot while sitting inside a car.

No, it was an Arrow shirt.
Of course they need to be punished. If they harm someone else by throwing a rock at a moving car... then they should be punished by the full force of the law. I’m just saying that it is not up to you to crossbow a kid. That is totally wrong and you know it. And the fact that people think it is OK to do so hackled my backside. I know the Linda Vista neighborhood. I grew up close by. It is not the best place to raise a kid. And there is absolutely no excuse for this kid doing this. I’m not defending his actions by any means. I’m just appalled that some think that crossbowing some kid is appropriate behavior. Over and out.
“No one was arrested”......I love a happy ending!
A 16 year old throwing rocks at speeding cars isn’t a brat; it is a criminal.
A woman was killed near the DC area, as well, some years ago when a rock was dropped onto her car from an overpass.
