The subtext here really bothers me.
Can people survive without math? Can you manage a household budget, bake a cake, or build anything with no math skills? No. Math is essential. Without math, everything in your life would change.
Is evolution in the same ballpark? Would our civilization come crashing down if no one knew about Evolution? No.
They pretend that math and evolution have some sort of intellectual equivalence. If one is essential, then surely the other must be as well.
Simply not so. If you are a research biologist, evolution has importance in your daily life. For the rest of us? It just doesn't matter.
