Dear FRiends:
The Internet has been my favorite hobby since I first got connected back in 1997. Then in 2004 I upgraded to DSL, and it's just been wonderful to have the world at my fingertips.
Most of you didn't know this, but we are moving. We received our notice back in March and have finally found and bought a house and are in the process of getting all our stuff over there (not easy to do since there are so few of us). Right now the target it to get enough moved to actually be living over there after the coming weekend.
Unfortunately while informing our phone company of the move I just found out this morning that there is no DSL service at the new house. And while dial-up was sufficient once upon a time, the Net is now so graphics heavy that it will no longer do.
Looks like I'm going to be off the Internet as of some time during the coming weekend. I don't know when I'll be back online again. Everybody over there is on the Net, so it's not like it's impossible, but after buying a house and all the expense of moving money is going to be extremely tight.
Until such time as I'm online again I will miss my fellow FReepers terribly . . . not to mention having classic TV shows at my fingertips via Hulu and YouTube.
To reiterate, I'm not gone yet. But I'll be gone during the weekend.
I just hope I don't die from the withdrawal symptoms!
Ping to my best bud. I’ll miss you.
You’re going? But you’re not gone yet?
Dude. How can we miss you when you won’t go away?
Godspeed
Internet Cafes?
May I ask where (in the boondocks) you are moving to that has no high speed access?
Is it true you contol David Letterman and everything he says?
Regards,
OldCorps
Get an air card, not necessarily as fast as DSL, but much better that dial up.
Hughes net or Wildblue,Verizon maybe..I have a Broadband antenna. Good Luck
I got something called a MyFI from Verison. If you have cell phone service you can connect at way better than dial up speed and as many a five devices can be online at any time. Even better, you can take it with you and have access wherever there us adequate cell phone service
You might want to consider procuring for your PC or Laptop a plug-in .usb unit with satellite uplink capabilities, much like a cell phone uses. They are less and less expensive with each passing week.
May YHvH cover you and yours on your journey.shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiachDon't forget to put up the Mezuzahs first.
Check into Satellite. Works well. Monthly costs are in line with cable cost - once you get by the initial outlay.
I assume you’ve already looked in to having internet service provided by a cable tv company or via satellite?
Use your Blackberry.
Look into satellite I forget which one has the best internet but my sister has it and it isn’t too expensive either.
what about broadband cable hook-up?
DSL, FiOS are not available to me. I don't want cable ...
So ...
I use my "Android" phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Something to consider. Talk to your local cellphone provider(s).
