An Alien Pod Person in a Room Full of Leftists
Taki's Magazine ^ | July 15, 2011 | Gavin McInnes

Posted on 07/17/2011 2:50:14 PM PDT by Keltik

There is a phenomenon here in the Northeast where being conservative — no, wait, being not left — is to turn everyone in the room into Donald Sutherland from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, screaming and pointing at you as if you’re an alien pod person.

I hear Berkeley is bad, and Madison is the only place I’ve ever seen one-person protest marches, but here in New York things are intense. It is a given that the political right is a cartoon pig who will do anything for money and wants everyone who isn’t a cartoon pig to die. The End. Nobody has ever questioned this and every time I do, it creates a hole in the space-time continuum that swallows the entire universe, or at least ruins the party.

During a break while I was working on a travel show recently, Anthony Bourdain was sitting at the lunch table and mentioned he’d like to skin Glenn Beck alive. Everyone nodded as if he’d said he enjoys tiramisu. I kept my mouth shut. A few months earlier I was in a similar environment when a cameraman casually mentioned he’d like to “kick Sarah Palin in the c--t.” This got the same placid reaction and when I begged to differ, it started a two-hour argument that ruined everybody’s day. That’s the problem with grazing amid a leftist herd. You’re constantly on the edge of a huge argument.

I don’t keep quiet - someone starts with the bashing around me, and I’m back at them. I won’t go quietly if it ever comes to that.

This article is spot on. I’ve seen the same thing among people I know who consider themselves the enlightened. None are so closed minded as those.

I live in MA. I've said "Boy, this unemployment is something, huh?" only to have a neighbor start screaming about George Bush and how all Republicans are racists.

Gotta toe the party line, or else the Leftists blow a gasket. They really can't handle alternative views.

I have, on occasion, tried to explain to them, that I know their position. I can explain their position. I can find points in their position that I find somewhat valuable. I then go on to explain to them that I don't think they have the slightest idea what the Conservative position might possibly be. I've been met with a smug, "I don't have to know your position. Why should I bother? Your position is wrong."

Tsk, tsk. The author has not learned. You will not change a liberal's mind with clever comebacks or even two hour arguements. No, the best you can do, particularly in today's political environment, is create doubt.

For instance, state that Obama spent Trillions to stimulate the economy...and has failed. And that failure is so profound, that he will not recover..he is a permanent loser with permanently failed policies.

Although he was a socialist, Orwell identified the true pigs correctly.

Great cartoon. Fascism = Marxism = leftism =atheism = feminism

All these are fascist ideologies which are based in irrationality, devoid of all logic and reason and, therefore, you can never argue with them.

They have had a whole lifetime of indoctrination by schools and media which allows only Marxist, fascist thought....group think—Marxist ideology. One right and wrong according to Marx (never God)—there right and wrong, based on “feelings”.

Exactly the plan of the cultural Marxists who designed the curricula starting in the 30’s to destroy reason and logic with cognitive dissonance in the classroom, particularly in elementary school:

Up is down, homosexual acts are “good”, Heather has two mommies, No daddies are good, Woman have a right to kill their babies, people are slaves to the state via taxes, criminals have rights and victims have none. Criminals are victims of evil white oppressors. Columbus is evil—initiative is bad. Some cultures are not superior to other cultures (except the Marxist ones).

Children who are not given the tools to think with (knowledge and facts) and just told WHAT TO THINK (and most lies) for 20 years with no real learning of history, memorization to exercise the brain, and philosophy and knowledge of the Classics, are destined to be useful idiots.

Arguing with leftists is worse than arguing with the mentally ill.

Idiots, are the key in these words and they are useful to no one except the evil Marxists who want to enslave everyone—the mind as well as the body.

The left seem to base a lot of their arguments on projection. I have always been surprised by how bigoted and racist the left is.

The writer is spot on about their unwillingness to listen to facts. I think it is because facts threaten their worldview. Most adults would rather die than change their view of the world.

Fortunately, those with a leftist world view seem to be only a small minority of the population. Unfortunately, they control the MSM, the education establishment, and Hollywood.

Ultimately, and I mean very far down the line after much damage has been done and a lot of people have been hurt and impoverished, we will prevail. It may be cold comfort by then but ours is the only view that can prevail because it is the only one consistent with human nature and the rest of reality. By its nature, socialism must fail.

I totaly concur.

In the 50’s all news was local and reporting on it was only in the news paper for a day or two. VERY little was national and nobody worried about it because it was so far away and would not affect our town.

Now the news picks up crap from every city in the US and in the world and it stays on the news for months if not longer.

There is no longer articles about the junior high talent show or the kids that graduated from grade school, who won the local High School Baseball/Football/Spelling bee/etc.

Now is is about the crack heads in LA who randomly shoot someone because they looked at they in a manner they didn’t appreciate. Someone ran over a group of people in New York because a parade blocked them from getting home in time to watch their favorite TV show.

It is the news media. They only want to report what everyone else is reporting and trying to get on the first page or in the first section.

In the 50’s (and earlier) it was one or two reporters in a local newspaper that attended school functions, parades, funerals of local people who had made their mark on the city and its history - or were just well liked by one and all.

We are bombarded by negative crap from all over, day after day after week, etc., etc..

If you fill our minds with crap that is all that you will ever know.

Solution - shoot the reporters around the world and make all news local and have the reporters people who actually attend local events.

I'm curious, how long have you been here? I've been here 18 years now. I know I might start a flackstorm by saying this, but it's been on my mind lately:

Texas isn't as conservative as it's reputation. It's not that I encounter more liberals here, even though I encounter plenty more than many would guess. What I do find here in record numbers are the politically clueless. I've taken the strategy of asking a simple question at the start of every political conversation, whether it's initiated by a so-called conservative or a so-called liberal.

Who's your congressman?

The results are disappointing. On the other hand, on a recent trip to NYC, I found the opposite to be true. More folks could tell me who represented them than not. I roped a buddy from my home state of Colorado into participating in my informal survey as well. Apparently more Coloradoans can also tell you who represents them than not. Here in Texas, I'd say it's easily 3:1 againt, if not 4:1. It's a sad state of affairs.

I’m with you. When libs get together in a herd they feel free to say any nasty things they want about conservatives thinking they will get only approving nods for their “cleverness”. The way I look at it, if I’m lucky maybe they’ll think twice before they open their mouths next time. If I’m really lucky maybe they’ll stop inviting me.

“No, the best you can do, particularly in today's political environment, is create doubt.”

I actually think the best you can do is to act incredulous when they state their beliefs, act sincerely surprised that they are so ill-informed, and then change the subject like you are trying to protect them from their own idiocy.

Exactly—that is why the left established Political Correctness—cultural Marxism right from the perverted mind of Herbert Marcuse and his communist buddies.

Put into the curricula under the guise of “tolerance” “diversity”, human rights, Values Clarification, Critical theory.

It is to tear down the fixed beliefs of children—destroy the Christian paradigm. They replace it with nonsense—irrational thinking like homosexual acts are the same as heterosexual acts—heather has two mommies—white men are all evil—slavery was created by the evil white man—Government is like a loving nanny (never force) which does only good. Sodomy is a “right”. You can do anything in private—it is a right in the Constitution.

All their “facts” are complete lies and can be easily disproven, but schools are indoctrination centers because they don’t allow the other side, ever. The Christian worldview which was the most successful in the history of mankind on every level was thrown out with the McGuffey Readers and the socialist John Dewey. He revels about the plasticity of the young child’s mind and the power to mold it coming from the writings of Pavlov.

PC is to name-call and destroy all debate. It is an emotional, rather than an intellectual appeal and destroys civility. It is juvenile actions, but is what Marxism is. Ideas are censored and logic and reason are never developed in the young. As adults, it becomes impossible to reason —they have no skills in it—no knowledge that will allow it.

The ex-KGB who defected in the 70’s and Chambers wrote about the cognitive dissonance put into the textbooks and how worldview is formed by it. Adults can not face the fact that their entire childhood was immersed in lies. That is why it is so hard to snap out of their belief system—it is why the formative years of childhood are so important.

Lenin understood mind control....his good buddy was Pavlov. All Marxists understand the necessity of controlling the minds of young children. Lenin created the concept of day care and forced women away from their toddlers. That is why the push for younger and younger ages for “group think tanks” (3 year old “pre-schools”—to get them away from their parents—particularly Christian parents so Marxists can control their worldview. This is why taxation forces women out of the home. The state directs the thinking of the child. This is why the broken homes—destroy the marriage contract with no-fault—it is the first thing Lenin did in Russia—which gives state control over children with no people having time to direct their education, model morality, and watch over them. They are like lambs given to wolves. Actually worse.

It's not so much about politics as it has been about the mindset of folks I work and associate with. Most of them concern themselves with how to deal with their problems by themselves.

Have been here about 3 years now (born here too) and enjoy the atmosphere of self reliance and a sense of independence.

Currently my rep is Joe Barton, but since TX gained 4 rep seats, (and NY lost 2! btw) redistricting is in progress. So I'm not sure how things will shake out.

The big one I hear is “Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich”.

That is the easiest one to “refudiate”, (thank you Sarah Palin).

The trick is to use this comeback, Just to clarify, what you are saying is the Bush Tax RATE Cuts decreased Tax Revenue, right? You will ALWAYS get a perplexed look, and then the Libtard will ALWAYS say YES.

At that point you explain that the Bush Tax RATE Cuts affected all Taxpayers and overall Tax Revenue to the Federal Government increased 35% in only four years after full implementation. At the same time, the “Rich” paid a larger portion of the Tax Revenues than ever, while the bottom 50% of earners paid less.

The follow up question is key. You ask the Libtard what would happen if all the Bush Tax RATES were repealed? Since they are clueless at this point, you tell them that the people in the lowest Tax Bracket will see their Tax Liability increase 50%, while the “Rich” will see their Tax Liability increase 10%.

Hit with an increase in Taxes, the Rich Small Business owners will cut back in other areas, NOT hiring additional employees being first on the list of cutbacks. Ironically, had those additional employees been hired by the greedy Rich guy, they would be hit with the 50% increase in their Taxes.

Classic Catch 22 situation.
