Hmmm...wonder if this would work on our Maltese dog? He barks at the drop of a hat...drives me nuts!

I use my thumb and forefinger to do the same thing to our cats. That is the reaction from being carried my their mother when they are little. It works on the dog ass well.

This works on horses, too. You don’t put the clip on the neck, though; it goes on their upper lip. They’ll flap the lip for a few minutes, then the eyelids start fluttering, then sssnnnnoooooggggg...

Ohhhhhh, poor kitty. ;^)

That list is too funny. I even called the cat a "bugger" and hadn't even read that. With a little editing it has the exact episode we experienced...

...wrap towel around kitty, leaving only his head exposed. ... wrap towel around it a little tighter, making sure its paws can't come out this time. ... Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, ... Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand (that would have been me) ... Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. (that was her)... And that's where he freed his foreleg and demonstrated that his claws were at least an inch long and that human flesh is a lot like warm butter in his world.

should have been “as well”. I squeeze her neck when my wife trims her hair. She has been known to snap at me when my wife get the clipper going, so that is what I do.

Funny thing is we’re trying to medicate a cat here and all that is true.

We can laugh but it can get very serious. I healed up just fine but I talked to a woman who had been gouged deeply by her cat and she almost lost her arm up to the elbow. She had permanent nerve damage and said it took about six months for the wounds to heal. She had no particular health conditions that contributed to it either it was just the nature of the wounds hitting the right (wrong) spots.

I love the cartoon where wife asks husband if he flossed kitty as the vet asked him to do. Husband is standing in the doorway -— a shredded mess from head to foot.Another one is about nose drops. LOL!

After thinking about it, a mother cat moves and carries kittens by the scruff of the neck and they are docile in that position. There must be something instinctive about being gripped by the scruff that says be calm and docile.

I’m not sure that this works on all cats.

Take a long tube sock and tie it lightly around a cat’s belly -just so it’s slightly snug.
It throws off their balance and their butts hit the deck.

My cat who is relatively docile has a tendency to get sassy every now and then and hiss at me. As soon as she does, I grab her by the skin at the back of the neck and she immediately becomes docile once again...........

I'll have to try using the clip the next time I cut her claws.
