Razors are expensive and get dull way too quick and I started to think about a way to make them last much longer.
When we shave, we are not only cutting the bristle but we are also getting oils and dead skin on the blade.
This lead me to thinking what would clean the blades from this stuff. So I stared experimenting and came up the perfect solution...91% Isopropyl Alcohol.
I put some in container which I could put a lid on to eliminate evaporation. Then I used an old blade which I was about to throw away and vigorously rinsed it in the solution then in water.
I did this several times while I shaved and couldn't believe how smooth my face felt. BTW, it wasn't a top dollar razor, it was a Gillete Good News and I'm still using it after five more shaves.

[With all the money you save, that beach-front retirement home may finally be within reach. :)]
Lol. Actually, I gave up on beach front home, I now live in a tarp covered ditch with an Ipad.

Try a little Roundup in it. Will work wonders.
Boy! I guess you don't remember the old Gillete Blue Blades before the Wilkenson Swords did them in.

Well, after I shave and then clean the razor, I put it in a small dish with mineral oil, just the blades are sufficient. helps keep the edge. Perhaps not as long as a year, but usually a couple months.
I'm disappointed in you Laz, I have enough control over my beard that it dares not grow without my permission. It started to get out of line once, but one good glare in the mirror was all it took. I've never had a problem since then.
RoundUp is for plants, not me, not planted yet.
I remember that!
Pyramid Power.
A fellow by the name of Patrick Flanagan developed the “flat pyramid” - a disk that gave off the same powers of the pyramid, and he “proved it” by putting his razor blades underneath it to make them last longer.
You could also hang it around your neck to give you special 'Pyramid Energy'.
He made a chunk of change, especially in the more 'liberal' communities.

The problem is getting her to sit still.
No, I see your problem. You're not using enough. You're going to need more than one for full coverage.
Chaep 1$ Sauve and White Rain hair conditioner make a great shaving lotion, let it sit on your face for a minute or two with a little hot water added and thick whiskers glide right off, you face will be smooth as a baby’s arse. Keep that blade clean like you said and the combo will last for months.
I shave in the shower and the blades last for well over a month. A little soap on the mirror defogs it.
I don’t dry them, they are stainless steel and don’t rust.
I went to Polygraph school back in the early 70’s with a guy in the class who was the first distributor of the pyramids in North America. Everyone made fun of him but when they put their razor blades under the cardboard box pyramid and it stayed sharp, they stopped laughing.
Wearing a beard is like playing a violin; Not one man in a hundred can do it well and done badly it’s best not done at all.

The problem is getting her to sit still.”
I took the liberty of correcting a minor typo:
“The problem is getting them to sit still.”
