Razors are expensive and get dull way too quick and I started to think about a way to make them last much longer.
When we shave, we are not only cutting the bristle but we are also getting oils and dead skin on the blade.
This lead me to thinking what would clean the blades from this stuff. So I stared experimenting and came up the perfect solution...91% Isopropyl Alcohol.
I put some in container which I could put a lid on to eliminate evaporation. Then I used an old blade which I was about to throw away and vigorously rinsed it in the solution then in water.
I did this several times while I shaved and couldn't believe how smooth my face felt. BTW, it wasn't a top dollar razor, it was a Gillete Good News and I'm still using it after five more shaves.

Rust is the main duller of razor blades.
I pound the whiskers in with a hammer and bite em off on the inside.
Consumer guru Clark Howard on AM 750 wsb in Atlanta did an experiment. He took a cheap blue disposable razor and used it almost a year...by drying it everytime he used it.
I been doing the same and it works.
I’ve been using the Gillette Fusion blades and I find that I can get about three weeks from one blade. And before all of you start saying stuff about “baby fuzz”, I do have a pretty thick beard.
Yeah, I used to do that, too, but found it takes too long and the bristles tend to stick in your teeth.
If rust is the main enemy of razors, why not, after cleaning with alcohol, putting a thin film of baby oil on it? Seems like that would stretch the # of uses out of the blade.
You’re not the first person to think of this:

The other good tip in the article is to store your razor outside the bathroom in a place where there’s less humidity. I just put mine on my nightstand.

You wimp...I just pull mine out by hand.
I buy generic razors. The 4 blade disposables. 3 for a dollar at Dollar Tree. I buy the mens razors - I buy the ladies. Don’t care.
I use it every day. Throw it away after 1 week.
Them things give me just as good a shave as the (much) more expensive Gillette razors.

I burn mine off with a soldering iron.
The alcohol itself probably renders the water ineffective as an oxidizer.
LOL, I thought about that but realized I wouldn’t have any teeth left to bite them off.
I use"mach 3's" but I scrape and scrape.
Honestly I am about ready to quit, except I like to be clean shaven.

You wimp...I just pull mine out by hand............................................ Use a clam shell, it works fine and you get more per pull.
Or just buy some more. I don’t understand all this talk I hear lately about making razors last.
Buy blades made of enriched Uranium, after the third shave the hair falls out by itself.
I spray mine with WD-40
