The Austin Parks Foundation has canceled tonights showing of Napoleon Dynamite at Republic Square because of complaints about an offensive word in the movie.
According to an email the foundation sent out:
The Austin Parks Foundation is canceling tonights (Wed, 5/25) showing of Napoleon Dynamite at Republic Square. A new movie will be shown next month. A number of people contacted us objecting to a word used by actors in the movie. We didnt recall that this word was used and we did not mean to offend anyone. Our apologies for this as well as for the last minute cancellation.
So what is this offensive word? Executive director Charlie McCabe wont say. But some of the complaints came from the Austin Mayors Committee for People with Disabilities, he said.

I guess "Tropic Thunder" won't be on their movie list either. Political correctness = stalinism

Also, the offensive word and any others are censored in the comments section, which is pretty funny, and you can leave your own comment. I did!

I’m really surprised that this happened in Austin, of all places. They’ve never really seemed to care about stuff like that before.
Weird.

My reply to them referenced the movie Tropic Thunder and said the parks people were the retards. Probably why it hasn’t shown up.

I was onto it a few days ago. At least Texas has one thing going for it: they know where the bulk of their liberals are, and can keep 'em corralled there when the time cones.

    As did I.
 Specifically:
This is going to retard my planned trip to Austin, as well as result in my becoming more niggardly in my givings to charity.
I don't think it will be posted.
