Mitt Romney, my personal favorite front-runner for 2012 on our side just performed a rare *suuuuuhuuckification* on the Hugh Hewitt radio show this afternoon in Hewitt's second segment. (Holy God Hugh, if you ever bore me again as you did in that first segment teasing a Romney appearance, I swear it will be worth my time to drop everything and drive to the OC so I can personally explain to you my displeasure.)
No kidding, I think Mitt is the only one who even stands a chance against Zero. (Will save how he would have mopped the floor with Zero in 2008 for another discussion....)
But today he was off his game bigtime. My kind, slick Mormon friend acted like he had just drank a half gallon jug of Pepsi for the first time. Rather than the crisp, smooth off-teleprompter delivery I have come to envy and respect and marvel at, he was stuttery and jibbing all over the place. It was not the Mitt that could mop floor off-prompter, in other words. He was not tanned, rested, and ready. He conveyed he was over-eager and pressed for time.
So here is my Packaging/Marketing RX for any Mitt operative to relay to my favorite presidential current non-candidate:
1) Man-oh-man, immediately lose that Rumsfeldian rhetorical construct of "....there's no question BUT THAT...." Holy shades-of-Bush-Era Batman! Every moderate will leave the room and not turn out the lights. Keep that radioactive core buried in the past. Do not resuscitate! Mitt, you used it 3 times in 5 minutes, and any such turn of phrase thusly abused makes it stale fast. Remember "Don't touch my hair"? Same deal.
2) Step away from the caffeine and nobody will get hurt. Smooth, baby, smooth. You have the rhetorical chops. Too easy, just let it flow as you did last time. I remember an interview Mitt did in November 2008 after the election. It was so pretty. I remember pulling over to the side of the road and pounding my steering wheel and nearly crying "We nominated the wrong f-ing guy!!!!" because the content of those off the cuff remarks was that good.
People, we will not be getting Rick Santorum, neither John Bolton. But we need to get one thing for sure, and that is away from Zero. So being a realist, I am ready to step over to the last best chance for freedom: Romney/Pawlenty 2012. I am already getting the bumper stickers printed.
You posted this line like it is coming from you.
My take: romneycare is the BIG disqualifier for Mitt.romneycare is big but I think Mormonism is bigger.
The media has been laying low on Mormonism but if Mitt is ever nominated the revelations of how really strange, really bizarre, really weird Mormonism is will become nightly fare on the world's TVs.
Agreed that Rubio probably needs a little seasoning, but for the record, one year of actually voting on principle equals four years of voting "present."
South Park’s episode on Mormonism did a pretty good job.
(Most Mormons are good, if misguided, people)
Actual reason people voted Republican in 2008!
It’s true. Most Mormons are good people. I used to live in Las Vegas and the Mormons I knew tended to be political conservatives, Harry Reid notwithstanding.
But that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about how the MSM will suddenly “discover” how weird Mormonism actually is (in a way that will pale anything done on South Park) and the effect will be that whatever electability Mitt had after subtracting romneycare and mega-flipflops will evaporate like mist in the media glare.
That is frickin’ hilarious!
The lamestream leghumping media will try to tear apart any conservative candidate. Rino Mitt would be an easy target.
If Romney is the nominee, I’m voting Tea Party, even if they run Kool Moe Dee.
There seem to be a couple of other Romney-bots that exposed themselves on this thread. They better watch out.
It’s a terrible thing when your messiah loses his halo.......
Thanks! If ever two animated GIF’s worked well together, those two work great. :)
Looks like you’re ready to commit freepicide with Hauserman.
Nice knowin’ ya.
If the GOP nominee is as liberal as Romney, and in particular if he supports RomneyCare or ObamaCare, I’m writing in the name of a real conservative. There are many acceptable republicans, all conservatives, but I will not vote for Romney.
You’ve completely left Palin off your list. Interesting that you’d do that, considering she will likely walk away with the nomination and the win in 2012.
How on earth is Mitt going to beat Obama in the general, when he couldn't even beat McCain for the nomination in the north-east states?
Add to that, the fact that Obama & Co. are already praising him for providing the blueprint for ObamaCare. Mitt doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting the nomination, or of winning the general.
ROFLMAO!
They have a new plan.
Suck it, Doogie.
