Tea Party 2012: Will Michele Bachmann Steal Sarah Palin's Thunder?
National Journal ^ | 3/5/11 | Lyndsey Boerma

Posted on 03/05/2011 11:46:22 AM PST by pissant

It's looking increasingly likely that tea party maven and Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., will dive into the 2012 presidential waters.

Among the evidence is a packed schedule for this weekend, including two suspiciously stump-like stops in Florida on Friday and a Sunday appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, where she’ll be asked about how “the campaign against President Obama’s reelection should be framed,” according to network previews.

Most notable is Bachmann's involvement in the conservative Club for Growth’s annual winter meeting on Friday, where her name shared a guest list with those of Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and former Govs. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts—all rumored White House contenders.

Sarah Palin is the real thing. She is the only one who has executive experience that has taken on the establishment.

It's not about that. This is about using Bachmann as a proxy to stop Palin. Unfortunately, too many FReepers (cough pissant cough) are buying into this fabricated horse-race.

Palin and Bachmann are good friends. There is no beef between them. And while I admire Bachmann and grudgingly concede that she is a better interviewee than Palin is, she is not at the level where Palin is, who can command instant attention, has a strong base already behind her, and has been vetted endlessly. These same leftists touting Bachmann will rip into her and these same conservatives supporting her (just to stop Palin) will find someone else to support.

Got to give you credit for digging up an article that talks about your pro/anti idols...a twofer. Some might call it a fixation, but, I will go with dogged determination. Just don’t let that boulder roll downhill and squash you when you pause to inhale.

Opting for Bachman over Palin now would be like opting for a sapling over an established, well-rooted tree.

No, opting for Bachmann over Palin now would be opting for a real conservative as opposed to the TARP, LOST, Amnesty, Title IX, DADT repeal, Global Warming believing McCain in a skirt.

Actually, I WAS down there two weeks ago, but no, there was no damage done by myself or those whom I considered kindred spirits.

[Thank God for that. We need Bachmann’s rock-ribbed conservatism. Not Palin’s McCainsian, Mavericky crapola. ]

Too bad Bachman is just an untested Congresswoman and considered out of control. The best her crapola will do is give the primary to Romney, so some principled conservative she is. Bachman will be a loser. Stick a fork in her.

Bachman will receive three votes and pissant’s in the primaries.

The media love the ‘horse race’ aspect of presidential campaigns. Deliberately pitting two strong conservative women against each other is classic media manipulation intended to divide and conquer the TEA party wing that threatens the GOP elites. Don’t fall for it. Palin won’t run against Bachmann and vice versa. Meanwhile, both are admirable conservatives that some (who can never really be satisfied with any politician) may nitpick but in total they do a great job of getting out the conservative message. Meanwhile, the rest of the ‘contenders’ for the ‘12 GOP presidential nomination dither around the edges and inspire no one the way either of these women do.

Do you really think you’re doing Bachmann any favors by putting her in an oppositional position to Sarah Palin?

It’s one thing for leftist droolers to read such nonsense. They might just bite on it, but the effect you’re creating here, isn’t helping Michele one bit.

I believe that somewhere deep in the tangle web of your mind, exists the remnants of a person who was once a righteous conservative, but your irrational hatred of Sarah Palin has clearly taken over the better portion of your senses.

I honestly don’t know why you’re still allowed to run rampant here.

Bachmann would certainly stand a better chance as the nominee than Palin.

In what alternate universe? In the real world, it's exactly the other way around.

Bachmann almost lost her race thanks to apologizing to Chris Mathews in 2008.

Please stop pushing Bachman. It’s making me dislike her and I like her.

If you like her, stay out of her way.
