Palin clarifies statement on Supreme Court ruling: ‘I wasn’t calling for any limit..'
Dailey Caller ^ | Thursday March 3, 2011

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin clarified remarks posted on Twitter this week in response to a Supreme Court ruling in favor of a church that demonstrates at military funerals, saying she was making a point about a double standard on free speech, not that the group shouldn’t have the right to protest.

Her quote was interpreted by many news outlets, including The Daily Caller, to mean that she disagreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling, although in a new statement exclusive to TheDC, Palin said she agreed with the ruling in favor of the church.

“Obviously my comment meant that when we’re told we can’t say ‘God bless you’ in graduation speeches or pray before a local football game but these wackos can invoke God’s name in their hate speech while picketing our military funerals, it shows ridiculous inconsistency,” Palin told TheDC. “I wasn’t calling for any limit on free speech, and it’s a shame some folks tried to twist my comment in that way. I was simply pointing out the irony of an often selective interpretation of free speech rights.”

What a navel-gazing pile of steaming excreta. The sad part is, you might actually believe this. Here's a clue:

When the liars and pedophiles attack you by twisting your words, slapping them back into their greasey, craven hidey-holes with a few words of truth is the best possible disinfectant for their infection.

Bush stayed "above the fray" by not responding to his manipulative critics, and gave the country to O'Bunghole by doing so. When you allow the lie to stand uncontested, you are as guilty as the liar who spewed it.

Grow a brain, or at least go sell your snot-laden drool elsewhere. We ain't buying it.

She should give it a rest and stop pretending to be the smartest one in the room.

Well, considering that at the LIA event she said that her entourage consisted of Bristol, she probably is the smartest person in the room.

Trying to educate the Palin haters is like trying to teach a slug to dance. They are part of a rapidly, and thankfully, dying breed of ignorant inbreds who no longer have any reason for being.

America is crawling back up from the slime they have dragged her into over decades of their manipulations. They will have a hard time letting go of their dreams of power and control... but the necessary evolution of political reality will see them and their useless ideas neutered and, eventually, discarded.

Wave "Good-bye." They have been measured and found wanting, Their days are numbered, and are quickly coming to an end. And they know it.

But that very expressly is not what her tweet said. That’s my issue, not what she has said since.

Gee, the PDS sufferers on this forum didn’t have a problem when Palin went out into space and supported Tea Party candidates while the rest of the GOP had their fingers up their rear end.

You can thank Palin that John Boehner and not Nancy Pelosi is not the Speaker of the House today. Not Huckabee, not Romney, not anyone else—Sarah Palin.

The election of 2012 may be the final one for America. That’s how high the stakes are.

None of the GOP candidates have the courage that Palin has.

And they will wither under the attacks that the Communist Obama and his minions in the DNC and press will unleash.

Do you think Romney, Huckabee, Jeb Bush, or any of the GOP leaders could withstand that?

Palin eats that for breakfast and is still hungry.

My God, people, we better get over Sarah Palin and her supposed deficiencies. She is in the arena everyday, and I haven’t seen any pattern of clarifications necessary.

She is the ONLY person who exposes Obama on a regular basis—and she does it with a Reagan like quality.

She is the only hope for this Republic, so by all means, savage her at will, you merry band of PDS varmints.

She isn’t perfect, but she will beat Obama senseless in a campaign in which she is not shackled by the likes of John McCain—Loser, Arizona.

She’s President No. 45. I only pray she will accept her destiny to bring this country back to greatness.

“Common sense & decency absent as wacko “church” allowed hate msgs spewed@ soldiers’ funerals but we can’t invoke God’s name in public square”

Look! Where did she say she disagree with the Court decision?

Now if she said: Common sense & decency absent as wacko “church” allowed hate msgs spewed@ soldiers’ funerals.!

Then you have a point.... But she added “but we can’t invoke GOD’s name”

Referencing a double standard or inconsistencies in rulings

If you have to come back to explain what you meant the first time then you have screwed up.

Your logic is screwed up.

This chick is making a career out of..."this is what I really meant".

Calling her a "chick" is disrespectful. Do you teach your kids such rudeness?

And, if Palin tweets like a bored eighth grader in study hall then I will characterize her behaviour accordingly.

As to your inappropriate comment bringing my children into it...I teach them to call a spade a spade.

However I don’t believe freedom of speech extends to a private funeral and I do believe that individuals should be able to designate funerals as private closed events with barriers setup to make sure that attendees are not faced with people like the Westboro people.

Just for the record, the Westboro people were in an area cordoned off by the police, 1000 feet from the church. The dead soldier's father testified that he only glimpsed the tops of their signs, couldn't read them, only learned what they said later when he watched it on the news and that most of the emotional distress that he claimed was only after he went to Westboro's website and read what was there.

You make a point several times, yet you feel no need to clarify. All that after you criticize Palin for making her point twice.

The logic of PDS is stunning.

Me, too. I understood what she meant immediately, and agreed with her.

I think it was mostly the anti-Palin crowed that jumped on her twit as a reason to dislike her.

Actually, I wish she wouldn’t do twitter. I don’t. It’s too hard to make one’s point in so few words.

She agreed with the ruling as did all but one of the justices.

It’s a matter of free speech. If you stop this group, distasteful as they are, tea party gatherings could be next.

She was simply commenting on the irony of all the stupid little rulings against things like nativity scenes, prayers before football games, etc.

You again. Boring, but I’ll respond.

Christie has been all over the place not shutting up.

Huckabee has been all over the place not shutting up (and saying some really stupid things I might add)

Bachman has had a lot to say lately.

And you’re all upset because Sarah made a comment???

Irony? what irony?

What is so embarrassing about what Palin said was, she clearly does not understand the Courts or their rulings.

Under the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, the Separation of Church and State is what clearly effects and prohibits what Palin is calling “an inconsistency” in freedom of speech.

The separation of Church and State and the right to free speech is not even closely related. For some reason, Palin seems to think so.

Calling her a "chick" is disrespectful.

I hung that out over the corner knowing that somebody would swing.

Empty statement.

I bet that I could go back over all your posting history and not find one objection to the hundreds of times that you palinites have disparaged any and every other potential GOP candidate with much worse language. If I'm wrong then show me the post(s) where you voiced your objections.

Wow, where to begin.

I'm not a "palinite" as I haven't endorsed anybody yet.

I don't use disrespectful language against potential GOP candidates I don't like, unless I think that candidate is being disrespectful or disingenuous.

Whether I have disparaged Palin supporters for using disrespectful language against other candidates or not, your use of the description "chick" to describe Palin is still disrespectful and undeserved.

And, if Palin tweets like a bored eighth grader in study hall then I will characterize her behavior accordingly.

Your description of her tweet has no basis in fact and your disrespectful treatment of her continues.

As to your inappropriate comment bringing my children into it...I teach them to call a spade a spade.

No, you're the one who brought up your children and what you teach them as a basis for a false insult directed to me last week. I'm just responding to that point. Shall I link to where you did that?

If you don't think it's appropriate to use ones kids to illustrate a point, then don't you initiate such behavior.

There is nothing in the constitution that mentions separation of church and state.

I’ll try to use small words.

We’re always reading about some kid being sent home from school because of wearing a religious t-shirt.

Likewise, schools prohibiting prayer before football games.

Or prayer before public gatherings.

These things are peaceful and should offend no one except someone who was absolutely determined to be offended.

That is ironic in view of the ruling protecting the free speech of the ‘church’ which protests at funerals.

She wasn’t disagreeing with the ruling, she was just citing the irony.
