TAU says turmeric might be "the right spice" to fight colon cancer
Turmeric, a bright yellow spice from south Asia belonging to the ginger family, is the main ingredient in curries and ancient wisdom suggests that it's also good for your health. Taking this wisdom to the laboratory, Tel Aviv University researchers have discovered that turmeric's active ingredient called curcumin amplifies the therapeutic activity of highly toxic anti-inflammatory drugs used to fight colon cancer when used at high doses.
Dr. Shahar Lev-Ari of Tel Aviv University's School of Public Health at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine and his colleagues have found that curcumin can fight cancer when used in combination with a popular anti-inflammatory drug, alleviating the inflammatory response caused when cancer takes root in the body. A treatment based on this finding has already had promising results in human clinical trials.
"Although more testing will be needed before a possible new drug treatment is developed," says Dr. Lev-Ari, "one could combine curcumin with a lower dose of a cancer anti-inflammatory drug, to better fight colon cancer." The results of the new study have been published in the journal Therapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology.

Excellent.

I guess I’m doomed. They won’t let me back into my local Indian restaurant. I said it wasn’t so much my screaming in pain from the curry as much as it was my rolling on the floor and upsetting the serving carts. THAT the would not tolerate.
Thanks.
Curcumin has been getting a lot of good press, health wise. I hope it’s all true.
If you don’t like curry, a number of other foodstuffs like French’s yellow mustard have tumeric in them. Try to get a little every week as numerous studies suggest it is a cancer fighter.
Just the smell of a curry dish would cause me to puke! I would not be welcome back either.
I’ve been taking turmeric daily in pill form for years.

Good to know, especially since mustard is my favorite comment. Back when I was little I used to eat mustard sandwiches.
I’ve been taking turmeric pills for a number of years, mostly to fend off the likelihood of getting Alzheimer’s. There aren’t any Indian restaurants around these parts.
Someone who doesn't like curry might try turmeric by itself. I have some turmeric powder and it doesn't have that strong a taste.
You’ve both been taking turmeric pills for years. That must be more common than I’d imagine.
Turmeric is great in scrambled eggs. 1/4 teaspoon will have everyone asking you what your secret is.

I do it in reverse. I like curry, but turmeric by itself is awful.

If you are an advanced cancer patient who has had a lot of chemotherapy, radiation or surgery or you have a potentially fast-growing cancer, do not use this protocol as your primary cancer protocol; use one of the protocols linked to on this web page:
...Of the 400+ alternative cancer treatments, only a few are rated "Stage IV" treatments, meaning they give an advanced cancer patient real hope for survival. Obviously, their chance of survival depends heavily on their condition at the start of the treatment.
// However, families who are accustomed to dealing with orthodox cancer treatments frequently have no clue how fast-acting and powerful the best of the alternative cancer treatments really are...
// Read ALL of the treatment articles linked to in this section at least twice before making a decision as to which treatment to use. There are advantages and disadvantages to each treatment.
// As far as costs are concerned, cancer patients who use orthodox cancer treatments think nothing about spending $500,000 for worthless orthodox treatments. Then they turn right around and complain an alternative cancer treatment costs $500 a month even though it is 30 times more effective than orthodox treatments. What is wrong with this picture? ...

True..You can also just cook some with your rice—Spanish arroz con pollo for example regularly is made with tumeric. It gives it an appealing yellow color.
Add me to the list of those who have been taking turmer turmeric capsules for years
