So how many people do you know who are sick with the latest round of cough/flu? And have been for weeks, if not months? About a third of my friends and family are. I was, but I catch just about everything - and then recover quickly thanks to an overactive immune system (which has problems of its own).
So let's go conspiracy theory here: Are we in the middle of a bio attack? After all, I cannot remember when this many people I know spread around the US and two continents were sick the same way this long. But decades of vaccinations - with antibody factors that may be passed down generationally - may be providing a defense.
So what happens when this bug goes global? Oh, wait, it has - it's just not being reported well.
Thoughts?
Many of the things you say match the 1917-18 Spanish flu. But people aren’t dying en masse. And people like me with an over-reactive immune system would be dead by now in 1917-18. (The Spanish flu was particulrly deadly to demographics with strong immune systems - the immune response was fatal.)
So there are some similarities, but some very important differences.
Still, the similarities are worriesome, at least to me...
LOL! - that was me a few weeks ago
One of my customers went to the Doc in January, as she had been ill and had the lingering cough. He said around the office they were calling it the “90-day cough.” Just some FYI to the posters who were talking about coughing since Thanksgiving...you’ve got about another week to go.
Almost zero are sick where I live outside of Portland, OR, and that includes my kids and their classmates in elementary school. Classes have been 90% or more full all year.
Knocking on wood...
I’m in Salem...it’s likely heading your way!!! <:)
Hmm-Hmm. Chemtrails kind-r make me nervous. Hmm-hmm.
My two 20something both caught it. The oldest is still horse after three weeks. Fever, chills - yuck.
Hawaii Big Island. Epidemic of either: gastro-illness like food poisoning (but it isn’t) lasting a few days - but much more prevalent is the 3-6 week cough. I had it 5 weeks and it is the worst one of my adult life (I’m 59).
Seriously, I’ve been thinking the same thing. I”ve been coughing since then with excessive green phlegm. Now it is coming out my eyes and they are red and burning. On my third round of antibiotics and its not getting better but worse. I’ve passed out 3 times and am so tired I can hardlly move. And how I envy the poster with the box of Kleenex. I’m on my 12th! Just about everyone I know is coughing. If they are trying to kill us off, they don’t have far to go with me.
Yes, I’m sure of it.
I know everyone in this house has essentially had it and half the people at work. THe lingering heaviness in my lungs and clear nasal discharge tells me it is still lingering. Although I wonder if this new enrichment media we use at my lab has something to do with the lingering.
I have seen worse outbreaks around here though where they have closed schools etc, which is strange. it could be similar to the Spanish Flu in that it strikes fairly healthy people and stays away from seniors and the young.
In Pennsylvania here. My husband had a cold, seemed to subside about 2 weeks ago. Came home yesterday, practically crawled in the door, felt achey from head to toe, he said everything hurt. 99.9 temperature, went to bed early. Left for work today a few minutes ago, didn’t seem up to snuff but said he was okay, I’m doubtful. Will see how he is this afternoon.
My sister in Tennessee and husband, and some grown kids all had it. She mentioned the green phlegm.
I cannot get sick, I care for my mother who lives with us, she has COPD & emphysema, not doing well, the flu would surely put her in the hospital or worse.
Obama’s CDC ‘released’ the virus to show us we need their health care.
It seems that the past couple years have seen a lot more stuff running around. I can't remember a period in my 58 years that had so many forms of illness running around, for such an extended period, as the last few years.
That wouldn’t surprise me.
Yup. Had it before Christmas and lasted 3 weeks. Then DH had it. Then I got it again. Produced my body weight in snot I think. Went the doctor the second time for AB and also hit the Vit D extra hard and it went away pretty quickly.
Doc said I probably never got over the first one - bug just went quiet, mutated again and came back for another round.
Got mine on New Years Eve at friend’s house. He had a new puppy which I played with. Washed my hands (perhaps not well enough), then ate. Got a sore throat almost instantly. The next day, developed a cough that lasted to Feb 8 or so. Late in Jan, the wife got hit badly - 2 days off work (which hasn’t happened in 10 years - and a 102 fever. Her’s only lasted a week, but, as with mine, it was severe coughing. The owner of my radio show gave me a cough drop yesterday - as I’m guessing he’s tired of hearing me clear my throat chokes. Ha! Anyway, 6 plus weeks? This is beyond weird.
