If you are accessing email via a Netscape browser, you just need to set the IP address in the Netscape options.
Google search using this: setup email in netscape
It returns numerous websites with instructions.

Can anyone suggest . . . how to fix my Netscape email? Abandon it.
While you're at it may I suggest this new thing called AOL, and you really should upgrade your computer to the new blazing fast Pentium Pro.
Man it was such a bummer what happened to Kurt Cobain last week. So bummed.
The next time 1994 calls, don't answer.

Isn’t it a browser-based email?
What does or does not happen that makes you suspect a virus?

1) Download Firefox browser & install it.
2) Download Avast antivirus and install it.
3) Junk Netscape browser (it hasn't been supported for years).
Both downloads are free software btw..

This is what I do to fix then keep my computer clean. It works very, very well.
1) Assuming you're running Windows, download the following link to the free version of the malwarebytes software and run it on your computer. It will scan and repair any malware you have.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
2) Take StormEyes advice and download Avast!free anti virus. Install and run a scan. Keep avast running and it will update daily or more often keeping your computer safe.

3)Install the Comodo Firewall and disable the windows firewall which is insufficient. After a week or so of clicking in a window to allow or disallow activities on your computer it learns your habits and really works to protect your computer from most kinds of attacks. It also is free.

Netscape has not been supported for quite some time (2008). Mozilla has instructions
here for updating your platform. Or you can go
here to download a fresh version of what you currently have.

Can't tell from the information you gave for sure, but my suspicion is somebody cracked your password and hijacked your account to send spam.
Are people getting spam from that account? If so, that's not a virus, that's a broken password.
When you get back in, be sure to change it to something more secure with numbers and non-letter characters in it.
