I have a type 07 FFL (manufacturing and dealer), and one of the hottest selling items lately has been converted Saiga 12 shotguns. Due to a recent "study", Russian American Arms is no longer importing Saiga shotguns (according to my distributors). We have three distributors who deal directly with RAA, they're all on hold pending the outcome of the ATF paper recently released. ATF is accepting "comments" through May 1st, but the distributors are already pulling the product line. According to Ellet Brothers and RSR group, they're prepared to even remove the inventory tags from their databases. I'm hoping the distributors are overreacting, that nothing has been actually banned yet, and that merely high demand has cleaned them out, but no one knows for sure. Even other dealers have been responding to rumors going around.
A quick reminder, Saigas are essentially built on AK platforms, but made to conform to all "assault weapons ban" forms such as no pistol grip, low capacity magazine, no bayonet lug. These are often converted once in the US to include pistol grips, better triggers, and the like.
The ATF paper is linked below. http://www.atf.gov/publications/firearms/012611-study-on-importality-of-certain-shotguns.pdf
This is about importated shot guns. Keltec is a company founded in the USA.
You know what they are up to.

I loaned my copy of UI and never got it back. When I see one now they want $100 or so. Shame that.
Even after Tucson, they are leary of making a big move, but the death of 1000 cuts has begun.
The price just shot through the roof. Glad I’ve got mine already, with all of the hi capacity mags I could lay my hands on.
Good luck actually getting any Kel-Tec product. Must be a very small operation because just about everything is waay backordered.
I figure just look for a recent printing of it. I have a copy of the 6th printing I had to special order from 2007 or 2008 or so, and it wasn’t more than I think $25.
My point was, in my humble opinion, if the 6 rounds of the 870, can’t handle the situation I doubt that a shotgun firing 20 rounds would be sufficient. I was expressing my opinion as I have never actually been in such a situation.
Been keeping an eye out.
I think every few years, they add another letter.
At some point, it will be Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Pornography, Caffeine, Fat, Salt, NSAIDS, Energy Drinks, Hate Speech, and Journalistic Integrity (of course, working closely with MSNBC on that last one).
Not all situations that could become a reality are just defense against home invasion. The purpose of the 2A is to resist tyranny. Such a tool would be handy then.
I wish I knew how to post the video of Gunny with the 20 shot fully auto 12GA that has been developed for our military; 20 rounds in 4 seconds, fancy shells that launch grenades...all of which could very well be deployed against you and me.
I maybe misread your post where I sensed you thought it ridiculous that anyone would want a different/better/higher capacity firearm than you felt you “needed”. That would be divisive to the ranks of 2A preservation.
Never knew about this until you mentioned it. Thanks. This is under MUST have to replace my 870.
Polish the feed ramp (Flitz polish) and tetra grease in the action. Every Kel-tec I’ve ever had or played with cleaned up very nicely with those two steps.
