Didn’t we already know this? I’m not being snarky but I thought that a mother in the 90s discovered a diet that helped. I saw a movie about it, I don’t remember all the details.

IMO Atkins type diet can help lots of problems.
Jim Abrahams, co-writer/director of the movie “Airplane!”, talks about the ketogenic diet he used with one of his kids:

Was a low carb diet..it just fell off as long as I did the menu they give Day 1 etc...
I read everything before I buy..
If you ever order Meals online which is executive chef prepared and is excellent taking into effect that we buy at the grocery store things we do not need and then waste ..it is prepared and nothing goes to waste. Better than many restaurants.
www.homebistro.com and has a low carb or fat free depending on what your needs are..it is executive chef prepared and comes in a styrofoam container on dry ice..
Forgot the best part of that homebistro chef prepared meals..comes sealed vacuum packed and you drop all of the meal into boiling water for a few minutes and then open..no clean up.
Not your grocery store prepared meals..excellent service
The diet has been a miracle.
Yes....my doc advised the CAVEMAN Diet....even stricter than Atkins....I do a sorta version of it....and I’m not hungry much anymore. And, it keeps my weight down (until I fall off the wagon)...I eat a lot of protein and fat....along with vegetables....very little fruit. I was told I had a hereditary cholesterol condition I could not change....non buyoant, small, dense, LDL cholesterol...well...it changed (for the better) when I started eating this way!
The ATKINS “Diet” works wonders on many levels for the human body.
When I eat like this and also add exercise I feel at least 20 years younger and look it. Of course I never ate this well when I was younger so I feel even better ;-). I recommend it especially to carb and sugar addicts. It is the only recovery I have found and I really keeps the weight off and is a go to way of eating after big holiday and vacation splurges (which I allow as I am only human + I do not drink alcohol. Thus food is often my only splurge.
the ketogenic diet (not to be confused with the gluten free diet) has been around for years.
You eliminate carbohydrates from the diet so that your body “metabolizes” fat instead of sugar, and your body’s ph changes. For some reason, this helps prevent seizures in some but not all people.
The bad news is that the diet has other problems, including that it is almost impossible for normal folks to stay on, and with the availability of a lot of new anti seizure medicines, it’s just easier to give a pill than to try to keep off of all the carbohydrates.
But yes, if you have seizures that no medicine will help, it might be an option.
but have a specialist and a dietician check you out first, because there is a bunch of hysterical stuff on the internet about most medical things.
I’ve been on Atkins for almost 6 years now. Not only did I lose the weight I wanted, but it changed my eating habits.
I’m on the maintenance part of it now. I find I have very little carb tolerance. I’m wondering if I had a food allergy to carbs all my life and didn’t know it?
I don’t have the water retention problem that I used to have. I also don’t get acid reflux or constipation problems.
I did the modified Atkins that includes milk and cheese. I have one cheat day per week in which I’m allowed to eat anything I want for dinner, but find I also get instant water retention and indigestion occurs. LOL Can’t win. It takes me a day or two to throw off the effects of the carb day. Many are able to tolerate more carbs on maintenance than I am.
I feel lighter and more energetic. My legs don’t feel like they weigh a thousand pounds. :)
Yes, I’m on Atkins and it sounds credible to me.
