I basically live an altered Atkins type diet, but with loads of vegetables, tad bit of whole grain or some carb beside just vegetables with dinner & mostly protein, a bit of fruit and vegetables though out the day. My energy levels are insanely amazing (female age 44), people often comment I am like a super hero in my energy level and fitness levels etc and it is true.

When I eat like this and also add exercise I feel at least 20 years younger and look it. Of course I never ate this well when I was younger so I feel even better ;-). I recommend it especially to carb and sugar addicts. It is the only recovery I have found and I really keeps the weight off and is a go to way of eating after big holiday and vacation splurges (which I allow as I am only human + I do not drink alcohol. Thus food is often my only splurge.

That is essentially what is called the “maintenance Adkins Diet”.

On Adkins when you have reached your desired weight you begin to gradually add carbs back in, more vegetables, more fruit and more whole grain. When you stop losing weight you stop adding things back in. At that point you know what you should eat in fat, protein and carbs to keep yourself at the proper weight.

You can then adjust your eating to fit the day.

I am going to have a slice of pie. So I will have eggs for breakfast, tuna in a tomato for lunch, the steak and broccoli for dinner.

I am not going to have the pie, so I can have a no sugar yogurt for breakfast, tuna in avocado for lunch and steak and a small potato for dinner.
