George Clooney's recent humanitarian trip didn't end as smoothly as one would have hoped.
CNN host Piers Morgan took to Twitter on Thursday to say the actor contracted malaria following his recent trip to Sudan. This is said to be Clooney's second bout with the disease.
The actor was "taking medication, but feeling rough," added Morgan.
A rep for the actor confirms the report, telling the Daily News, "George is completely over the malaria he contracted while in the Sudan during the first week in January."
The actor made the statement during an interview on "Piers Morgan Tonight," which was pre-taped on Jan. 13 and will air Friday night at 9 p.m. EST.
Hollywood needs more malarial swamps.
Welcome to the real world George.

I don’t care for George Clooney’s politics, and I don’t respect him as a person. But I wouldn’t wish malaria on anyone. My dad had it growing up in the Deep Fork bottom of Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. I’m convinced I saw recurrences over the years, but Dad would never admit to it. He certainly wouldn’t have wanted to have it known on CNN. He had more respect for himself than that.
If the UN would allow DDT to be used ocassionally, they would have no malaria in the Sudan. This is a clear case of the left caused enviro non-feasance resulting in a leftists getting malaria.
I love it when the left eats its own.
And just what was Clooney doing bare assed in a mosquito ridden area of Sudan? Picking kola nuts?? And him not taking the necessary meds to prevent infection?
I swear, no wonder our country is going down the tubes with idiots like Clooney at the helm.
Looks like “Team America” finally got to him.
I don’t think you “contract” malaria twice.
Once you are infected, the microbe remains in you, and you are prone to recurrances.
My dad had it as a child and almost died. Despite being big and healthy and strong, he could not give blood, because his blood could infect the recipient.
no good deed goes unpunished
Did he go without taking the malaria medicine? You have to start taking it before you travel, keep taking it, and continue after you return. I can’t remember for how long.
Just Wow! The sacrifices this man makes on our behalf is mind boggling!~sarc. Maybe he’ll shake and sweat out his Marxist tendencies? If not, at least we have the satisfaction of knowing he’s shaking and sweating.
What is it that is said..” no good deed goes unpunished”?
If only your pals hadn’t banned DDT.....
If Clowny were a true humanitarian he would be championing the use of DDT.........
I’ll venture that he supports the ban on DDT.
Well he did live in Green Country. But being from Hulbert I can’t recall malaria in anyone.
But the damn bugs in spring and summer are sometimes so dense you have stop your car every few miles to clean off the windshield.
I agree. I don’t like his politics, but he’s played some good roles. I wouldn’t wish malaria on anyone.
I give Clooney credit for at least going there and trying to do something, rather than just preaching from Hollywood.
Did Carson actually advocate banning DDT? I thought that was from her overzealous followers?
Complain to Rachel Carson. It’s her fault, not Bush’s this time.
I have had malaria many times. I have never been that ill with it. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. I am saying it doesn’t happen in every case and often malaria can be diagnosed and treated before it reaches that stage.
