Susannah York, the celebrated film and stage actress best known for her role in the film They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, has died aged 72.
She was the blue-eyed English rose with the china-white skin and cupid lips who epitomised the sensuality of the swinging Sixties. Sexy and demure by turn, Susannah York, who died yesterday from cancer at 72, held a generation of male admirers in her thrall.

Apologies to all.
She was NOT in "The Collector", had her confused with Samantha Eggar.

I remember her from “A Man for all Seasons”. Of course, the star of that movie blew everyone else off the screen, despite having a very strong cast. :’)

Very sorry to hear this. She was a wonderful actress. Every year at Christmas we watch her in ‘A Christmas Carol’ with George C. Scott. RIP

Yeah, like there was a whole heap of genuine Luftwaffe Battle of Britain veteran aircraft lying around the place in the 1960s to make an exactly accurate movie. If there were lots of WWII Luftwaffe aircraft still around in the 1960's that movie wouldn't have been made in English.

She was so pretty.

Makes me feel so old! ... She was indeed a stunning beauty, an excellent actress ... and A Man For All Seasons was her best work IMHO.

I remember her in “Battle of Britain” and “Sands of the Kalihari”
She was definitely hot to a teenage boy back then. Not bad to a middle aged man today...LOL!!!
RIP and condolences to her family.
