Glenn Beck may be one of the hottest talk show hosts in the country, but he apparently left New York's WOR cold.

WOR (710 AM), one of the city's two biggest talk radio stations, said this morning it is dropping Beck's syndicated show as of Jan. 17 and replacing him with a familiar New York name: Mike Gallagher.

P.S. I should also give Gallagher some kudos, too. He’s got a very good “radio voice” (he sounds a lot like Rush Limbaugh) and would probably succeed in the radio business in any on-air capacity (talk show host or DJ) for that reason alone.

Perhaps Savage does from time to time [get into the communist angle], but not to the same depth/extent as Beck.

Especially when he (Savage) has my brother, caller "Jimmy from Brooklyn", on the program. :)

Joe Crummey is in New York? I wondered what happened to him, I used to listen to him in SoCal back in the early 90’s. He was a comic genius back then. I’ll never forget the home fetal tissue research gag that he did.

Didn't Gallagher have a late-night show or weekend evening show on WABC for several years back in the late 1990s?

The guy I really miss from WABC is Brian Whitman. An unapologetic lefty -- but man, was that guy an extraordinary entertainer on the air. Amazing voice impersonations, and I think he still goes on the air occasionally playing the "other" side of interviews as people like Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, Geraldo Rivera, etc.

I would choose Beck over Crummy if I could.

Me too...

Funny thing is, I’ve hardly ever heard Beck on the air. I don’t listen to the radio in the office, so I’m only familiar with hosts who are on the air during commuting times and when I’m on the road for work (usually in the afternoon).

Our local radio station WNTK took Glenn off too. They said
it was because so many people called and complained about his “new “ manner of radio.
They cited no one wanted to buy ads in that time slot etc.

I really believe radio stations are being warned about the new rules that will be put into place by the FEC if they don’t get rid of “people” like Glenn Beck.

They don’t like Glenn’s message.

Howie is an entertainer and Rush is well, just Rush.
Barry Armstrong has a show but he is hardly conservative.
In fact he isn’t even on the show anymore because he’s made so much money in his financial services.

I have listend to radio for over 15 years now and will say definately, Becks’ show has become awful.

Its rambling BS for 3 hours. It used to be focused on going after obama and the communists within, exposing real fraud, now its mostly crap wasting time.

Some of Whitman's many voice impressions include: Don Imus, Louie Anderson, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Tim Conway Jr., Rick Dees, Bob Dole, Al Gore, Senator Ted Kennedy, Kenny Kingston, Jay Leno, Tom Leykis, Jack Nicholson, Al Rantel, Judge Larry Seidlin, Jack Silver, Don Pardo, Regis Philbin, Frosty Stillwell, George Noory, Alex Trebek, and Gene Rayburn.

I can't believe they left out one of his greatest voice impressions of all: Michael Jackson.

The offices of WABC in New York City were flooded with calls from irate listeners a few years back when one of the station's hosts conducted an on-air interview with "Michael Jackson" (Brian Whitman) that was one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Most people really thought it was Michael Jackson on the other end of the line, and they were calling to express their outrage that the station would have a child molester on the air like that.

One old woman who got on the air gave him all kinds of grief for his on-stage antics over the years. "Why do you feel a need to stand up there and grab your crotch like that in your videos?," she asked.

"I have to grab my crotch, honey," 'Jackson' said, "That's how I hit the high notes!"

ROFL.

Rusty Humphries would be a heck of a lot better than Gallagher

Beck works out better on TV and Rush works out better on radio, strange.

If Rush were to replace beck on FOX in the same time slot, he'd outdraw BOR in the 8PM time slot.

Rush has been on for over 20 years, no guests {with very rare exception} no buddies to share air time with, and really very few callers.

Rush doesn't need help, he's is in a class by himself, a knowledgeable, conservative with a great sense of humor and a very good understanding of human nature.

The left calls Rush a racist, but his good friend and call screener, Bo Snerdly, is black, and has been with Rush from the beginning.

He has over a million subscribers to his monthly newsletter, and a very high number of 24/7 internet subscribers.

He runs one charitable fund raiser a year and raises millions with one three hour show.

I can take Beck like whiskey, a little is fine but too much makes me dizzy and way too much makes me throw up.

" He's the only one with such a platform that gets into the important details of what the communists are up to, who they and their various front groups are."

And follows that up with "be afraid America, be very afraid".

Please.

All of beck's bloviating does no good unless he urges people to stop sitting on their hands and do something about it. That big gathering in DC was great, but it should have been the "kickoff" of something instead of the culmination and a sermon.

Talk without action is just talk....
