Glenn Beck may be one of the hottest talk show hosts in the country, but he apparently left New York's WOR cold.
WOR (710 AM), one of the city's two biggest talk radio stations, said this morning it is dropping Beck's syndicated show as of Jan. 17 and replacing him with a familiar New York name: Mike Gallagher.

Beck targets the paranoid freaks who think Al-Qaeda is lurking under a can of Folgers at Wal-Mart.
Of course it does not smell right. This is more about the Fairness Doctrine than anything else.
Yep, absent all the conspiracy theories about Beck being treated unfairly, he has steadily moved from conservative politics to Faith, Hope, and Charity (translate - here’s more of my Mormon beliefs) over the past six months. I, for one, don’t care for him on TV or radio anymore, and I use to record the TV show every day.
I truly think Beck could take a lesson from the 112th congress ...get back to the basics. Said differently, he would do well to get back on the horse that brought him to town in the first place.
+1
They all have their place in radio. If we suddenly start saying that Beck doesn’t belong here and Hannity should be taken off the air, we give fuel to the fire of liberals dictating what can and cannot be put on the public airwaves all under the guise of “diversity of opinion”. If someone hates Savage for example change the damn station and stop bitching about it.
Also the a-holes who THINK they know everything going on regarding the communist movement. Most of these blowhards don’t know squat.
Most importantly, he targets those who don’t have the time, know-how or resources to research this stuff on their own.
Who are "those" you speak of?
These people that listen to his show don’t care. They’re the Jon Stewart crowd.
Anyone who doesn’t at least acknowledge the fact that Beck plays a critical role in exposing communists and their various front organizations either doesn’t know a damn thing about what we’re dealing with or is on the commie left themselves. And/or a complete friggin idiot.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. You should quit now.
I already acknowledge he has a place in our society jerk off.
Says the one who calls people they don’t know a bunch of childish names.
I have not turned on cable tv between 9 and 1 for a long time. Batchelors’ show is so good I almost feel insulted after watching tv for how base it is compared to the topics discussed on batchelors’ radio show.
Just as an FYI . . . I remember Sean Hannity way back when he started as a local host in the NYC market -- doing an overnight show (1-5 AM, if I remember correctly) on WABC. In terms of talent and interest, I think he was a far better host back then than he is now in a nationwide syndicated role.
New York City is one of those places where local hosts can do extremely well -- and where I think they lose a lot of their appeal once they get syndicated and sold to a national audience.
Yeah, I’ve been a talk radio fan practically my entire life. Started listening to talk radio back in the early to late 1970’s. My first exposure to talk radio was Ken Hamblin, Larry King, Bruce Williams and Alan Berg.
You’re a bit older than me. I didn’t even know what “talk radio” was until I came across Bob Grant on a New York station (it may have been WMCA) back in the early 1980s.
