Just as an FYI . . . I remember Sean Hannity way back when he started as a local host in the NYC market -- doing an overnight show (1-5 AM, if I remember correctly) on WABC. In terms of talent and interest, I think he was a far better host back then than he is now in a nationwide syndicated role.
New York City is one of those places where local hosts can do extremely well -- and where I think they lose a lot of their appeal once they get syndicated and sold to a national audience.
Yeah, I’ve been a talk radio fan practically my entire life. Started listening to talk radio back in the early to late 1970’s. My first exposure to talk radio was Ken Hamblin, Larry King, Bruce Williams and Alan Berg.
