Latest research deflates the idea that the Universe cycles for eternity.
Our view of the early Universe may be full of mysterious circles and even triangles but that doesn't mean we're seeing evidence of events that took place before the Big Bang. So says a trio of papers taking aim at a recent claim that concentric rings of uniform temperature within the cosmic microwave background the radiation left over from the Big Bang might, in fact, be the signatures of black holes colliding in a previous cosmic 'aeon' that existed before our Universe.

Definitely two of my favorite herbs!
Tha’ be nonsense. T’was nae an *evil* dwarf. Th’ tree be th’ source of evil.
How can that be? What is the purpose of creating a life form that exists mere years in a universe that will continue for perhaps billions of years or forever?
Very strange.

aaahhh... must have confused him with the guy who explained why background radiation is spread all over the universe and not localized where the big bang happened. Because everywhere was where it happened and then expanded outwar.
Something like that.

Even if information survived the theoretical singularity during the big bang which is questionable. It would be so distorted by a multitude of forces we cannot even model that it’s completely useless.
Time is just a reference (point) in (this) physical reality. A part of the creation. After you die you exist in a “no time” environment.
What is the life expectancy of a fresh baked cookie compared to the entire prep time? That includes all the processes. From growing the grain, raising the cane, down the line to actually mixing them in a bowl and baking. See what I mean?
Yeah, it’d be interesting to see the math that says ripples from a previous aeon could somehow survive into this one.
Sing Sing hadn`t been sung yet.
Fascinating . . .
time before time . . .
It´s possible that God cares for many life forms throughout the universe; particularly those that have abstracted information from their environment thus to know Him.
One reason that is unlikely is that IIRC Nobels are supposed to be given for discoveries that might have some practical application.
>>Very strange.
Even stranger when one considers that Time is a derivative function of state-change that progresses relative to E within the inertial frame(s) in which it is observed.
As E approaches infinity an eternity could pass within a single blink of an unmoved eye...
Thanks for the ping. This seems to have kind of a high duhh factor to me.
No, but I think Newsweek was around.
I’ve got a recent magazine around here (somewhere) with an article about the search for traces of the previous universe.
My pleasure. :’)
I haven’t gobbled any fire lately. Doesn’t settle very well in my stomach.
