1960s songbird Joan Baez had a treehouse built -- without walls -- 20 feet high in an oak tree behind her Woodside home because she wanted to sleep with birds.
The folksinging legend, who once performed the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" before a half-million people at Woodstock, fell from that treehouse Wednesday as she climbed down from the platform.

Actually, I think if a poor person built a tree house and slept in it, the government would first condemn it, then find the guy a tax-payer provided home and give him food stamps out the whazoo.

Fantastic singer though. She’s one of those I give a pass to for her looniness.

Sleeping in a treehouse that was purposely built without walls? When I was little, one of my neighbors had a tree "platform." No walls, suspended by cable at four corners, and about 20' x 25', with the tree trunk rising through a large opening in the center. It was really nice . . . and it would sway in the breeze on windy days.
We spent hours up there.
