Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty constitutional conservative activist web site. Those who cannot live with that should simply stay away!! (saves wear and tear on my zot button - bitterly clinging redneck, Jim)
Romney is an unrepentant abortionist/statist lying political whore! Just to be absolutely clear, there will never ever be a RINO Romney campaign on FR!! If he somehow becomes the nominee, FR will be running a full-time campaign to DEFEAT him!! If you wish to support him then I suggest you sign off FR and onto Wankers for Mitt!!
Those statments make me worry that FreeRepublic is moving toward a DemocratUnderground kind of stance toward their users. Romney may have done some mistakes like Health Car but I have constantly heard him say that universal helath care was a mistake. If I'm wrong, so what. Lets not kick good Republicans off this site because of their views on abortion and Mitt Romney. Look, if someone says something good about Romney, fine. State your point and try to change that person's views. We are not kicking them off the site! That is DemocratUnderground style dumb. It's what they do.
LOL.
And Happy (Early) Thanksgiving to you, too... ;-)
Abortionists, gay rights activists, Statists, RINOS, RudyBots, RomneyBots, et al, can KMA!! They're NOT wanted here!!
Can labor union activists be added to that list of those not wanted here? Please? Pretty please?
The union thugocracy is in lock-step with Marxist/Leninist philosophy as witnessed by their support of democrats in election after election. In my opinion, unionism is every bit as pernicious as activists for homosexuals. And my stance on the abomination of homosexuality is a matter of record in my postings.
I think a large measure of what's going so wrong in California can be attributed to unionism which births such horrors as the ultra-corrupt SEIU.
Normally, I’d just respond to that with “Hugs ‘n’ kisses!” but since we’re both pretty old, male, nasty curmudgeons, I guess I’ll just have to say:
“Tell those kids to get off the lawn!!!”
Basically I have no problem with the site not supporting anybody who can not get the base out much less one who will actively keep people home and have a dem win again....but hey we are the stupid party for a reason....we never learn...especially from history...just look at how the rinos in power destroyed our own candidates this last election...yep brilliant.
Romney equals McCain, Dole and Bush I on steroids....no thanks
I just get tired of the need to keep repeating it. I am afraid that the Democrats and the media will use the opposition of the social conservatives to Romney as a plus, by portraying Romney as a moderate.
I never supported Romney because of Romenycare. I remember reading that Romney stated at the time that it was passed, that he hoped to bring the same kind of health reform to the whole country some day. I thought to myself, not if I can help it.
I appreciate your polite response, but you neglected to mention an important part of my post, which is that instead of posting privately to Jim, you openly challenged his many recent posts regarding the way that he wants his site to operate. I understand how one can feel a part of a community here, but this would not be a community if we had anarchy.
Yes, there may be room for those who are learning and asking questions, who are reading articles and perhaps becoming more conservative, but this site, as I understand it, has a very specific purpose. Let other sites function as they will, the owner of this site has made his thoughts known. It is up to those of us who want to remain here to respect his wishes.
You are completely wrong if you think that the people who were banned were new comers who only joined FreeRepublic to influence the campaign. They were almost all long term conservatives, if not long term social conservatives.
Unionists be damned!! Unite against the damned unionists!!
What about supporters of illegal aliens?
Damn their illegal eyes!
Well said.
You appear to have made up your mind. So be it.
oh, trisham. Geez.
They are kept around for entertainment value. They are fun to play with.
I feel the same about Mittbots myself, they can really be goofy and deluded and are like cat toys for Conservative kitties. But unlike Ron Paul Mitt actually has a shot at the title, so I can see why Jim would nip those idiots in the bud and toot sweet.
That’s the issue in a nutshell.
Do you understand the difference between people on the same team discussing the way forward, and people on different teams debating general principles?
Free Republic is a place for conservatives, people on the same team, to discuss the way forward. We are not on different teams trying to debate fundamental principles.
You are suggesting we change this. We won't. Jim will zot you before that happens.
That's reductio ad absurdum. There's plenty of interesting and lively debate here on FR. Take the Civil War threads for example. :-)
All kidding aside and speaking only for me, what I find appealing about FR is that we can engage in healthy discourse with like-minded people. We will have our differences on nuances but not on the fundamentals. It just plain fatigues me to debate my company colleagues located in an upper-midwest liberal state on political issues. They are simply intractable as all liberals tend to be.
After nearly a decade of treating this site as read-only to get a feel for the culture here, I only recently joined up to join the party that Jim Robinson is kind enough to provide for us. To think that this is merely an echo chamber is so far from what I've experienced as onyx may remember from a "hillbuzz" discussion from last winter.
By way of allegory, if we're invited to a restaurant specializing in steak, we can have passionate and diverging opinions about whether prime rib is better than sirloin. But it's outside the scope to complain that sushi isn't on the menu.
In short, I find Free Republic to be a stimulating, thought-provoking but pleasant environment because they are basic ground rules set forth by Jim on which we all can and should agree.
