Matt Damon?
No thanks.
Just watched the John Wayne version again after many, many years. Still a great movie.
Looks like it could be entertaining. Probably not as good as the original though.
Couldn’t get that other link to work.

Maybe the Coen brothers will be able to extract a decent performance out of him.
The original True Grit was honestly not a good movie at all. Wayne had had much better performances in his career. And let’s not forget Glen Campbell’s acting...or maybe we should.
I trust the Coen brothers. I’m sure this will be a better version.
Yeah...Matt Damon is a huge liberal. No doubt about it. But the Jason Bourne movies were still pretty great.
It looks great from the trailer. I love Jeff Bridges....he is one of the few that I think is truly a great actor, old school acting.
The two things that made me slightly interested in seeing this movie were “Jeff Bridges” and “The Coen Brothers”. That trailer clinched it, it looks like it has the potential to be a great movie. We have’t had a good old style western since Unforgiven.
Not a “”One Eyed Fat Man” and Cogburn is outright dumpy.
The hat is stupid instead of helping him look imposing.
The smoking? LOL Good guys don’t smoke on film anymore.
Completely unkemp and looks he doesn’t bathe.
Clothes are to dark and obfuscates the good guy image of Cogburn. The film also takes the dark tone with Cogburn in the shot. It’s as if to say he is a Jekyl and Hyde.
Cogburn also doesn’t hold his guns straight true but rather waives them or holds out only 2/3rds with a bent elbow. Makes him look lucky for shooting and haphazardly lazy for a man who should be confident in the one thing he is good at.
Still it has Jeff Bridges(The Dude abides) and I will probably watch it...when it’s available at Red Box.
Jeff Bridges as Cogburn, looks good to me! I’ll go see him in Tron too.
Also, this version supposedly follows the book more closely than the Wayne version.
It looks good.
Mr. Bridge, I knew John Wayne and YOU are no John Wayne.
Mr. Bridges, I knew John Wayne and YOU are no John Wayne.
What are you talking about, SCP?
I was really disgusted that there was going to be a re-make of True Grit... until I found out it was the Coen brothers. They might just pull this off.
Trailer looks good.
