Say any word a thousand times and it loses its meaning. Yet, how could any act punishable by death lose its meaning? I don't care how many times I hear the word murder, it always pretty much holds the same weight as the first time I heard it. The same goes for rape. I heard the word many times and have seen it used superfluously as in: "They are raping the land!" Regardless, when I hear that word, it sparks an internal revulsion.
Treason seems to no longer hold that same revulsion. It is a co-opted word by those guilty of it. It is a word reserved for those who have gone against the government. But, when the government goes against the people in clear violation of the Constitution, the word never appears, or when it does it carries no weight whatsoever. So, one must ask oneself: "Why not?"
Why not, indeed.
A word like treason only holds meaning if it is enforced, if it represents a true and rational threat. Where there is no one to enforce the death penalty aspect to it, there is no meaning. Traditionally, we think of the consequences of treason more than the mere act of it. We might imagine the sneaky, late-night passing of communication between the treasonous agent and the beneficiary, but it is the stark sight of the firing squad that brings home the import of the act.
Another aspect to the act of treason that lends more weight to the word at one time rather than another is the immediacy of threat. When a nation is at war, treason is dealt with differently than when it serves to aid some distant military threat. I'm not sure that it should, but it is a fact. Part of that obviously comes from the lives put in danger dimension to a nation at war and the possibility of war.
In America today, we are at war. Treason is being committed. Lives are being put in danger as a result. This treason is open and clear, almost insultingly obvious, to anyone who cares to look. So, it must be the word that means nothing. I guess we need a new word for it.

Communists used to be seen as traitors.
Now it’s pretty clear it’s Democrats.
Just change the dates and place names and the names of the actors, the play is pretty much the same.
Kids don't get much history now, and much of that has been revised. The revisionists should be hung.
You've got to make sure your kids don't buy the lies.
There is only one person this year that has been treasonous and that was that kid who let over 60,000 pages of confidential papers on wikileaks. I don’t believe people use the term correctly.
Treason is the only crime defined in the US constitution.
Article 3, Section 3. “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.”
We need to follow the constitution.
Mohamicide!
Problem when i was young, and todays youth is they see the lie,but cant find the truth.
A good magician always makes sure you’re watching the hand he wants you to watch.
I know i was very angry once i started learning ,mongo mad!!
No, but need need to enforce the penalty for it.
A lot of it is subtle and seems innocent but there is almost always a subliminal message.
Paranoia is a normal defense mechanism, within reason, not a mental illness. When you accept everything at face value, that is where the insanity begins.
We turned most of our kids over to the enemy to be programmed and raised.
Communist Goal #15: Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
Awesome!!
Communist Goal #20: Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.
It is relevant that this quote from Cicero was part of a speech by which he persuaded the Senate to suspend the Constitution and allow him to execute without trial anyone he suspected of being an Enemy of the State.
This created a very bad precedent for the Roman government and I really don’t think it’s one we want to follow.
Not that the Roman Republic wasn’t already on its last legs by this point.
The problem is specifically that we have not enforced the consequences of the term. Historically it was summery execution. Today it is a status symbol among the elite.
It sounds nice but it's totally removed from reality. The "progressive" goal, of course, is to create a new reality, but it's artificial and will require force to keep it going, like the old Soviet Union.
Our Constitution is pretty much suspended, by acts of treason.
I must have missed the hundreds of executions in the streets by agents of the government. Extrapolating to today’s numbers, make that tens of thousands.
Geez, I get tired of hyperbole. Our Constitution is in serious trouble, and has been since the Progressives decided it was an impediment to Progress back in the late 1800s.
But it has not yet been “suspended.”
