The only question I have regarding the proclamation that the "LA Missile Launch" was actually US Air Flight 808 HNL to PHX is this...
Where were all the other contrails at?
NASA Satellite photos of contrails over SE USA...
Over the Pacific Near Japan...
Now... According to...

But the opposing view is that it was Flight 808 out of Hawaii, passing north of Catalina Island off Los Angeles and continuing on to Phoenix. A graphic has been posted showing this flight pattern at a time which is (at minimum) close to the time the video was taken.
As I say, I remain unconvinced -- primarily because it took about two days for the government to realize that it was this flight. For two days, the Pentagon said "We have no idea" and the FAA said "Can't help you" and then they realized that it was a normally scheduled flight from Hawaii.
I say BS. But others think I'm crazy.
If there’s a conspiracy here I immediately think of Cass Sunstein and his ideas about planting conspiracy theories to distract or discredit opposition.
Personally I think it looks like lots of jets I see coming over the horizon. In fact I was keeping an eye out tonight for my own “missile Launch” photos but conditions weren’t right for producing contrails. I did see one of those “braided contrails” earlier today.
My guess is AWE #225 (Alaska Airlines from Cabo to SFO). YMMV
Forcasted contrail formation isn't something you get in a normal weather report. What is a pilot supposed to do, look in his rear view mirror to see if he is conning?
I hadn’t heard the assertion it was Flight 808. That’s interesting.
I’m still of the opinion it was nothing so mundane, but that does add some room for doubt.
In a flight plan for landing at or taking off from coastal CA cities, they may be below the altitude where contrails would form on that day.
Planes flying parallel to the coast may be east of where the appropriate conditions existed.
I don't know in this case. I'm just throwing out possible explanations for the absence of visible contrails in the images.
You will see the most recent flights and flight plans for AWE808. If you look on the RH said you will see...

This is where the lat/long of each flight is reported, it is updated automatically via an onboard system called ACARS from position reports from the FMC/INS/GPS.
It should look something like this... http://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL2650/history/20101111/0014Z/KSLC/KBWI/route
But it don't, instead you get an error.. Error: Unable to decode route (MKK4 FITES R578 FICKY C1177 SXC TRM BLH) http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AWE808/history/20101109/1955Z/PHNL/KPHX/route
The route filed and the route flown are rarely the same. We are always being rerouted for weather, reported turbulence, traffic or just to get favorable winds.
If we could see the information for AWE808 we could confirm if it indeed flew the route it was filed to fly, or if it was rerouted around the active MOA. But we can't because there is some type of error with it.
I know, I’m a Commercial Pilot, (ATP License) with over 20 years experience flying many types corporate jets.
Nice photos of jet contrails. But it doesn’t look anything like what Ellsworth recognized: an ICBM launch from a sub.

I find it intersting that no one claims to know about this. Yesterday we were returning from Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines with an arrival time of 3:25 pm at LAX. Approximately 270 miles away our pilot came on the speaker and told us we would be rerouted over Big Sur California due to military maneuvers in our path. Maybe they should speak with the pilot of our flight.

That plane wouldn't have a contrail dropping down toward the western horizon. It's high enough, but may be at too high an angle to be in the view of the available images, or it may be in an area of the atmosphere too dry for creation of contrails.
I may have missed something, but I don't see any other planes coming in from the direction of Hawaii above 30,000 feet.

UPS902 was on the same exact route just minutes apart from AWE808
I guess you'd be the right person to answer the question then.
How many planes were there out over the ocean, coming in from the direction of Hawaii, at an altitude consistent with overflying the coast?
Were there ANY in the previous two hours which would leave a persistent contrail that would show up in the images?
