Exploding the “That Wasn’t A Missile” Myth

By Gargantua

What appeared to be a missile rose from below the horizon, streaking into the sky off of California leaving a condensation trail identical to the kind that have been filmed being left by a ground-or-sea-to-air launch of a Minuteman missile or ICBM.

First, the Government was inexplicably mum on the topic. Next came a series of sometimes contradictory explanations. Now, days after the event, the finally agreed-upon explanation hits every news station all at once. “It’s the con-trail of a jet returning from across the Pacific.”

There are two glaring problems with this obviously false “explanation.”

First, the shape and density of the con-trail.

A missile launch would be more dense and wide at its base, just as we see in the images we’ve been shown. A jet’s con-trail would be thinner and smaller the further away as it trailed off toward the horizon. We see the opposite in the availale video footage.

Second, the lighting.

In the video footage, we see stratus clouds out over the ocean behind the rising missile. The setting sun is shining on, and illuminating, the bottom of those clouds. On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge; just as it would if this were a launching missile’s vertically rising con-trail. There is no illumination of the underside of the “jet’s horizontally oriented con-trail” because it is not a jet’s con-trail, it is a vertically-oriented missile’s launch contrail with the sun lighting up the side away from us. Very obviously so.

The Government must think we are at least as stupid as they are if they think this lame explanation is going to “fly.”

;-\

I distrust common emotional reactionism even more.

That would be the unicorn rainbow jet contrail crowd who immediately abandoned their first reaction when the MSM started putting "experts" on the air (who misstate that rockets don't change trajectory) to carry the unstated government line. LOL

There isn't an ounce of emotion in my opinion. I couldn't care less if I am proven wrong at some point. So far there has been zilch.

“And around here people typically do not look at a sun that is close to setting.”

We do it constantly.

Definitely a Scotsman.

Full Screen
.10 clear separation
.13 TWO clearly visible contrails
Someone explain to me what is going on between .09 and .30

because I have never seen a jet separate into stages.
And Hardraade, it looks like a missile that malfunctioned to me as well. This is the forst time I have done a second by second, frame by frame look. The only point we might disagree on is where. It wouldn’t have mattered where. obumma had his emergency government ready to go.
The guys at NORAD and NorthComm were caught absolutely flatfooted by this. I bet it takes them a month to clean the pee and poop off the floor and laundry. It was too close for them to respond in any way whatsoever. Had it NOT malfunctioned, we would be looking straight into the abyss.
Pull that vid down and break it up into frames from .09 to .16.
We came THAT close.

I kept pretty much quiest until I had a chance to break it down. My first instinct was ruh roh! Usually, in my line’o’work, gut instincts will save your life, so mine are pretty good. I am still here.
If this wasn’t an unexpected surprise attack that didn’t malfunction, I will eat it.

My first instinct was ruh roh too and nothing has given me any significant pause on that. Having problems convincing Real Player that I have Adobe Flash. Youtube doesn’t believe it either. I’m too tired right now to sort out the idiocy of those two software companies. I’ll have to do that before I can view what I downloaded.

Monday Morning
For the past three days, the giant cruise ship Carnival Splendor — with a small city of nearly 4,500 passengers and crewmembers aboard — has been without power 55 miles off the coast of Punta San Jacinto, disabled by an engine fire Engine-room fire on cruise ship leaves passengers marooned at sea
5:41 PM November 8, 2010
The blaze erupted about 6 a.m. as the 952-foot luxury liner was about 55 miles west of Punta San Jacinto on the first leg of a seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise that departed from Long Beach on Sunday.

I trained at Long Beach. TONS of cargo containers are off and onloaded there.
So can I be forgiven if I say that an engine room fire on a cruise ship the size of a small town with 4500 people on board on THAT place at THAT time is a tad too coinkidink for me to swallow?

Images are Punta San Jacinto, Baja California, Mexico
Cruise ship was 55 miles out

Engine fire distraction to get the attention of the captain and crew off other things that might have been happening? Or another isolated incident that didn’t go as planned???

Right, I'm a "loon" with a "lame assed" post...

...which your most recent reply to was reply number three-hundred-ninety-seven (397). And counting.

So how do you measure a "lame assed" post? Can't be the number of replies, because by that measure, this thread is a blockbuster. You retard. Can't be based on the content, or it wouldn't have generated four-hundred replies.

Maybe the truth is that you're the "lame ass," and you're the only one who doesn't know it. LMAO!!!

My knowledge on this subject could be written on a post-it, the small ones. I’ve read every comment and found the aircraft argument to make sound observations related to perspective, but I’ve also found the missile argument to make sound observation related to technical operation. So, I am still on the fence. It would seem *time* would be the final answer. Was this happening for several minutes or a couple of minutes? Without the complete raw video, we have a case of circumstantial evidence.

My question relates to something I do understand—human nature. Given that the military said they did not deploy a missile, and NORAD said this was not a threat, and FAA said there were aircraft in the area but no unusual events, WHY THEN did the DOD seize the video?

The crucial questions were already answered for the public—a)we are not in danger b) it wasn’t our military’s missile. For the public this was simply something unusual but nothing concerning. WHY SEIZE THE VIDEO?

Something did catch my eye when looking at still pics on the CBS site—the last pic, I think #13, has captured a blue line appearing to be in the same trajectory as the “contrail.” What is that? If that is the object’s left over true path, wouldn’t that angle to the ground be measurable?

Forgive me for butting in...I just had those two thoughts, most likely worthless over-all! :) Thank y’all for your determined effort in attempting to make sense of this event!

If you look at 26 seconds, you can see the F-16 heading for the thing...so, I would say they were NOT caught off guard.

Why do you suppose they are saying this did not happen?
