Just Spoke W/ Very Senior Ret. USAF Officer. Says USAF, NORAD, Etc. Have "No Clue" About Missile.

Just spoke with old friend, very senior retired USAF general officer/pilot. Says his contacts, many of whom were his "boys," have no idea what Pacific missile is/was

As I was calling him, he was calling me to run my old network traps to see if anyone at the network desks in NY or DC have any idea what this was!

Data from video seems to be that it was large, ballistic, (not cruise) sub-launched. Course seemed to be trans-polar, so could have impacted in Arctic, Russian Far East, China, etc.

Current guesses... and these are wild guesses (some from the O Club at his lunch)

1: Crazy Russian or Chinese sub captain. No explosion because they didn't want one, or captain did not have correct codes for the PAL.

2: Islamic.......... ????? Demonstration?????

3: Hoax... but that seems way to far fetched.

Navy is also supposedly bat sh*t over this because there was no acoustic detection of sub!

NORAD scratching head ????

There may be an explanation, but no one knows what it was... or is!

Smells of something. Accidental launch from our sub or worse a demonstration launch from a foreign sub.

The foreign sub scenario is scary, that would be zero warning to hit L.A.

NORAD would know where it came down. Tracking data and such.

You are correct. It takes a full Boomer crew to launch a bird. Everyone knows on board, and its an all hands exercise. When its launched, EVERYONE feels it. It shoves the boat down a few feet deeper into the water its that big a thrust.

NO ONE misses a launch, and it never happens on accident. There is a strict protocol. If one ever lit on accident, it would take the boat to the bottom. It would not launch itself. Too many things have to deliberately put into action at the right time or it does not happen.

Wouldn't one of these find a sub long before it got to within 35 miles of the coast?

For comparison, here’s what a real SLBM looks like. Nothing like the KCBS news video.

Best discussion I’ve seen, go all the way to the end. Knowledgeable people discussing rationally.

(Just pinging a few names from another couple of threads about this. Hope no one minds the ping.)

Roses, check out the link I just posted. Very interesting and knowledgeable discussion (it’s a great site) and read the comments down to the end.

It wasn’t a plane.

Thanks for the link. There are some very good observations there. Definitely not an airplane.

I like that site; I’m not scientific minded at all (too dumm) but occasionally visit and am always glad I did.

Now the questions are “who did it” and “why”.

I just hope it was ours.

Questions that may never be answered. I hope it’s ours too.

You’ve touched on one of my thoughts this evening. Even if we didn’t know what it was, and I doubt that seriously, we would have responded with every tin cup we could get in the water to listen for the launch vehicle, hunt it down, and punch it’s lights out.

Maybe it is SPECTRE...Or Blofeld is trying to blackmail US and Europe by showing off his weapon...I hope that MI-6 and CIA are working together on this matter...

OldMissileer: “That is a sub launched ballistic missile and it looks as if its’ trajectory was taking it toward Kwajalein Atoll where we target our western test launches.”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2624382/posts?page=47#47

OldMissileer seems to know his missiles. He seems as confused as everyone else about the, uh, confusion. I heard a loud bang this morning and had to get back online. Not sleeping terribly well. Not that I’m scared ... I never get scared. [What was that sound I just heard?]

Someone hinted that maybe Obama is wading in confusion, not letting the military announce anything until Obama’s advisers think about what to advise — or it could be that his teleprompter needs oiling.

[I don’t blame you for not inviting me. Hey, can I talk about chem-trails again? /kidding.]

Stating that, “The operation is classified” is not a lie.

It doesn’t tip the hand of the government that this was or was not our missile either.

That the government didn’t have a scenario set up like this ahead of time, just in case, is unsettling.

To allow this situation to fester, is to allow our enemies to ponder if we are vulnerable. I don’t see much upside to that.

I'm guessing it's either highly classified or a foreign power just launched a rocket off our shores.

Russia or an upstart South American country, maybe, with a deisel-electric sub.

I think that many scenarios have a crucial Step 1 — notify the President and ask if you can move forward with Plan A or Plan B. Zero didn’t like any of their contingencies because he’s smarter than our military. So he’s waiting around for someone better educatated to advise him.
