JERSEY CITY, N.J.- New Jersey authorities say they are checking a barnacle-encrusted gun fished out of the Hudson River for a connection to any crimes.
Jersey City police said a 71-year-old man was fishing off a pier facing Lower Manhattan Wednesday when he reeled in a .32-caliber semiautomatic handgun, The Jersey Journal of Jersey City, N.J., reported.
The fisherman carried the gun to a nearby hotel, where a doorman told him to drop the weapon, reports said. The man complied and went back to fishing.
Police say the gun was partially covered with duct tape and had barnacles on it. They interviewed the fisherman, relying on his son as an interpreter because he speaks only Chinese, reports said.
Hudson County First Assistant Prosecutor Guy Gregory said Friday his office and the Jersey City police are investigating.
That Beretta is really accurate ... my brothers were hitting cans 100 feet out ... so, putting white-out on the front sight helps? I read some books where it says you should have the front sight sharp and let the target get fuzzy, just concentrate on the front sight ...
“...boating-related gun collection losses I’ve heard bewailed here on FR. “
I didn’t believe those stories until the very same thing happened to me!
Anything interesting in the barrels like radioactive sludge or human remains?
Come to think of it, where is uncle Vito's old piece...?
Disappointed Joe, mine’s 95%.
I’d rather carry a 22rimfire...and I do! :)
Thank you for the wonderful photo.
We found an old .45 when I was in middle school. We were skating on the local pond when one of us chased the puck into the grass and he pulled out a gun.. it had rounds in the magazine but had probably been in the mud for 20 years or so.
We took it to the local cop’s house and left it with his wife and went back to business of winning the stanley cup..
Dip the bullets in tetrodotoxin. Shoot, then you can even use a .25; it’ll at least break the skin.
Is that a revolver?
We had a display in our Air Force dorm room...several klystron magnets from the F-4. Anyone that drank a beer...and they came from far and wide to do so... flipped the cap at it. It was pretty cool to watch it reach out and grab one passing by at 6 inches. The brass were not impressed by it.
Thanks a lot... gotta start over on my Unified Field Theory.
What?????
Or rather: what part of "shall not be infringed" do they not comprehend? More to the point: has anyone challenged this law since the last SCOTUS decision?
You have to understand: coming from a state with sane, rational firearms laws - this sounds utterly insane and irrational.
Wanna see my notes...they’re illustrated...
The provision in state law I called out IMO is not the worst weapons law in the state. That “honor” would go to the outlawed slingshot. Per guide written by Nappen the moron who wrote the law wanted to outlaw something called a “slungshot” which is a term equivalent to a blackjack - a contrivance with a stout weight enclosed in something like a sock. In drafting the law someone misspelled it as “slingshot.” Many years have passed ... and it still a felony to possess a slingshot in the Garden State.
