A brewery in Memphis will allow D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. to introduce its beer to new markets in the South and Midwest, said David Casinelli, the companys chief operating officer.
The Pottsville, Pa.-based company has signed a letter of intent to buy the former Coors brewery from Chism Hardy Enterprises LLC, but representatives of both parties are still negotiating the terms of a possible sale....
Although Yuengling is the nations oldest brewery, it currently sells beer in only 13 states. It has two breweries in Pennsylvania and one in Florida.
The Memphis facility would give Yuengling a foothold to expand into middle America, including highly populated states such as Illinois and Texas.
And, if it opens in Memphis, it also could bring tourism potential, as the brewery could eventually open for tours.
The 1 million-square-foot facility is larger than what Yuengling currently needs, but it would provide room for future growth, Casinelli said. He could not provide an estimate for the number of jobs....
The company bought a former Stroh Brewery Co. plant in Tampa about 10 years ago. About 65 people now work there.
We started out very small, he said. Over time, weve grown that plant. Basically, our strategy is to do it within our means and continue to grow.
Yuenglings existing breweries are open for tours, and the company would look to make any Memphis facility a tourist attraction....

Me, too on Yuengling and Sam Adams. You have good taste in beers.
You will like yuengling.
Funny thing is you cant buy a 12 pack in PA.
You must buy it by the case LoL
LOL! Laz, when I saw the comment I thought it might be you! :0)
“Theyve been so smart at every turn and are just a model company. Everything they touch turns to gold, but there is a lot of hard work and forethought behind every decision they make.”
I’ve been to the brewery when Coors owned it after Stroh’s. It was falling apart and they didn’t put any $$ into it. I hope he turns it around.
If the beer is as good as their packaging I’d love to try the porter or black & tan the next time I’m back in the States .
I am sure I will...
Goin’ to the stand to kill somethin’ hopefully...
Leave ya’ll with this little ditty...

I think you will enjoy it.
The porter is worth it.
Goes down like ‘Butta’
Well, it used to. I don’t drink now, except on the rare occasion.
Thanks.
There should be something wandering around in about an hour and a half.
“Yuengling porter rocks.”
I want to try one but my beer store here in Colorado didn’t carry it. They said they would be glad to order some for me though.
Yuengling Black and Tan is my favorite of theirs. Yuengling always has a great price point compared to their peeres in the suds business.
Freegards
...Ling Ling beer.
Their Black & Tan is awesome.
My favorite.
I really like Yuengling beer. It’s about the best “regular” and “light” beer around, at least at normal prices.
“I’d tap it”
Oh my yes!
I would think they could ship it to Illinois now from their Pennsylvania brewery, since I am sitting in East Tennessee sipping on a Yuengling Black & Tan from, presumedly, Tampa. I prefer the porter, but the grocery store has those $8 for a 6 pack as opposed to the 12-pack of Black & Tan for $10.83. Black & Tan it is.
