WASHINGTON - The Rev. Al Sharpton says Glenn Beck and others have a right to rally in Washington, but they don't have a right to distort Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision.
Sharpton told reporters Friday that Beck and his supporters are holding an anti-government rally advocating for states' rights on Saturday. He says that goes against the message in King's famous "I Have a Dream Speech," in which the civil rights leader appealed to the federal government to ensure equality.
Beck's Restoring Honor rally will be held at the Lincoln Memorial, where King delivered his 1963 speech. Sharpton and others also plan a rally and march through the city to commemorate the anniversary of the speech.
Many D.C. Council members also gave Sharpton their support during the news conference at city hall.
The current offer is $100,000.
And they try to replace god by trying to create so-called equality for everyone
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT INFO THAT MLK WAS A REPUBLICAN????
NEVER EVER HEARD THAT ONE.
most black back then were republicans, do a google search and you’ll find it
That was true up till about the late 1940’s when that began to change. The Dmocratic Party somehow became the party the blacks migrated to.
The next time you make an ignorant remark, you might want to avoid ALL CAPS. It does tend to bring attention and make you look a little silly. A simple Google search will help.
From this source:

“Historically, the perpetrators and the promoters of racism and racist policy in the United States have been Southern Democrats. According to Alveda C. King, who is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. King, therefore, did not align himself with The Democratic Party for Southern Democrats were the individuals with attack dogs; cattle prods; and lynch ropes denying African-Americans their rights as they enforced the segregationist policies of Jim Crow.
Compounding this fact is also a King Family History of Republican Party Membership in which Martin Kings Father and his Grandfather as well as his brother were all Republican Party Members. Indeed, also historically, voting trends among African-Americans indicate that they overwhelmingly voted for candidates from The Republican Party because The Republican Party was known as the party of Abraham Lincoln. This trend continued until 1932 with the election and the ascension of Franklin Delano Roosevelt to the office of President of The United States.
And, although, voting trends among African-Americans did begin to change throughout The Presidential Administration of Franklin Roosevelt, those Southern Blacks who could vote continued to vote for candidates from The Republican Party due to the degree to which Southern Democrats perpetrated racism and promoted segregation throughout The United States but particularly in the South.
Consequently, Dr. King registered as a Republican voter in 1956. He did not give his support to the Democratic Presidential Contender, named John F. Kennedy, until 1960 despite Kennedys failure to vote for Civil Rights Policy in 1957. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his support to Kennedy because, as a Senator, Kennedy had telephoned a pregnant Coretta Scott King while her husbands life hung in the balance in a Birmingham, Alabama jail.”
I was at the rally. Simply put, The Rev. Al Sharpton is knowingly bearing false witness. Sharpton has no honor.
Ignorance can be easily cured, but in your case, perhaps not.
I have many ancestors who served in the War Between the States. Not a single one served in Blue.
My family were, to the man and woman, firm supporters of FDR. He was, after all, a Democrat. My father was the first to make the break in what was considered a minor family disgrace. Today, a Democrat cannot be found among our Ilk.
You said, not me. And in caps, no less.
I have no ignorance.
You made a mountain out of a mole hill.
I have ancestors on both sides of the Civil War equation.
I come from a long line of Conservatives.
Good for you. We both have learned something.
Didn’t you see this...”However, in this case...;o)”? ;o)
I wasn’t chastising you at all. In fact, I was kind of agreeing with you. Sometimes you can tell a lot about a person from his/her upbringing. That’s not always true, but in most cases it is. Those are the “eyebrow raising” times.
I love those who are able to get out of a bad sitation, and become whole, healthy, successful individuals. To me they are heroes.
So what does God say?
So is Al Sharpton with God ... or against?
