WASHINGTON - The Rev. Al Sharpton says Glenn Beck and others have a right to rally in Washington, but they don't have a right to distort Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision.
Sharpton told reporters Friday that Beck and his supporters are holding an anti-government rally advocating for states' rights on Saturday. He says that goes against the message in King's famous "I Have a Dream Speech," in which the civil rights leader appealed to the federal government to ensure equality.
Beck's Restoring Honor rally will be held at the Lincoln Memorial, where King delivered his 1963 speech. Sharpton and others also plan a rally and march through the city to commemorate the anniversary of the speech.
Many D.C. Council members also gave Sharpton their support during the news conference at city hall.
Hey Al, isn’t there some fecal matter somewhere else you need to smear?
BTTT
“in which the civil rights leader appealed to the federal government to ensure equality.”
More like ensure Government Slavery.
He's a fraud (no news there) -- he knew full well when he appeared on Becks's show several weeks ago that Glenn was to hold his "Restoring Honor" rally on this date and that it was specifically NOT chosen to coincide with MLK, but as Glenn had already stated several times on radio and TV that he'd not been aware of the anniversary when he chose this weekend. Manufactured, phony outrage -- so typical of these people.
What is interesting to me is that the spitter is no where near DC where one would expect him to be. Maybe he's smart enough to know that "The Reverund" Al is going to get the wrong kind of attention with his counter protest.
Its nothing more than Tawanna Brawley all over again. This race pimp riding the wave of someone else and then telling the whole world that he is the only one who can speak to it.
I really hope this blows up big time in his big fat megaphone face! Think about it, the rough and tough batton bandits from the New Black Pampers Party have even backed off trying to stir up a scene as they promised.
I’ll record the event because I have to be getting some cars ready for a test session this week and can’t watch it live.
King: “I have a dream”
Sharpton: “I want a check”
What a dope.
MLK called for equality in treatment, in opportunity, and before the law.
You can’t make people equal in abilities. Those are God-given, and self-developed.
God gives us the gifts, we must develop them.
Men are free to choose the path they will tread. All MLK wanted was to remove race-based obstacles to those choices.
ping!!
I must have missed the previous 8/28 observances that Sharpton organized...
Oh we forgot, its only minorities that get to march these days, anything else is prohibited.............
Maybe after today...he will be eating his words...One would think that if today (8/28) if any thing like last night with John Hagee, David Barton and Dave Rever good old Al would tell this group to JOIN IN!
Maybe al “moron race-baiter” not-so-sharpton’s rally will feature twana brawley smeared in feces or the bodies of the koreans his mob in NYC killed several years ago?
Even though I’m a conservative, I have to look back at MLK as a heck of a leader ... we have NO leadership like that today. So I have to respect what this man did and how he did it. I can, in my mind, draw some parallels to being in the local Tea Party Group ... there are many. But that is not “distorting” MLK’s message, it is turning up the volume on it. All WE want today is to be FREE! And we are headed for a form of slavery just as destructive as what MLK was fighting against. Sharpton ... BECAUSE HE IS BLACK... doesn’t own MLK’s legacy or message, I own a part of them too. I’m not black ... I’m just an American. Just my thoughts.
They need to get their pants off the ground and their noses out of the bag and get to work.
No. It counters Al Sharpton’s vision (which badly needs countering, if you ask me).
Many Blacks and libs will show up. (mindless zombies)
Re: “The Rev. Al Sharpton says...they don’t have a right to distort Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision.”
Wasn’t Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision about Equality?
Then WHY is Sharpton upset that Beck is having that rally?
Isn’t it Equal Rights to be Able to Have a Rally?
Me thinks Sharpton is just a limelight hog!
Always available for photos and cameras!
