To all Freepers:
Folks, social applications like Twitter and Facebook are HUGE security risks. Particularly with identity theft and can even lead to exploitation of children. I am a security professional and have worked in the field for over 20 years. I highly recommend that if you have such accounts that you close them, delete any and all information on your pages and notify the application owner that you wish the account to be removed and DELETED from all caches and records for security reasons.

Never have trusted FB—never have been there.
Thanks for the info, though—I’ll pass it on.

I don’t see “Account Settings”. Only “Account Security” and it’s only about notifications.

Won’t that just stop notifications?

Your changes will just stop FB from sending you an email whenever someone tags you in a photo. They won’t stop the tagging. I would say that if this bothers you, then go and remove tags as they are made, or don’t post photos on the internet.
To: NoGrayZone
Thanks, just un-clicked them. :)

"Facebooks new location-based mobile service, Facebook Places, alerts Facebook friends to each others locations
if both parties have a mobile phone that runs Facebook and has geolocation technology built in."
Nothing to worry about if you're just visiting facebook from your laptop or desktop computer.
To: NoGrayZone
***ATTENTION*** Facebook launched Facebook Places yesterday. Anyone can find out where you are located when you are on Facebook via GLOBAL POSITIONING APPLICATION! Sweet! Bring it on.
In fact, drop on over for a visit! ;-)

People also need to modify their settings on their smartphone that has the facebook application.
To: NoGrayZone
Those steps only eliminate your email noticiacfitons that you have been tagged.

I’m raising the BS flag on this, at least as written ... a GPS application would need the satellite signals to compute your position. I dont know of many facebook users that have a GPS antenna as part of their desktop.
There has to be missing info in this article/warning.
