SAUKVILLE, Wis., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Police in a Wisconsin town said they issued a $429 ticket to a man who allegedly told a fellow grocery store customer she was "ugly and fat."
Saukville police said the woman was shopping at the Piggly Wiggly and obtained permission from a clerk to use the express checkout lane, despite having more than 10 items, Milwaukee's WTMJ-AM reported Thursday.
However, another customer expressed displeasure at the woman being allowed to skirt the item limit.
"The female subject, the complainant, then turned back toward the man (and said) 'I got permission here. Is there a problem?' That's when the person said to her, 'Yeah, the problem is that you're ugly and fat,'" officer Barry Effinger said.
Effinger said the man allegedly continued to harass the woman until she called police.
The man, who Effinger said has a history of anger problems, was issued a citation for $429.
She is fat though right? Carbon footprint....
Coach? Coach Leach is that you?

I don’t blame the guy for getting upset !
About a month ago I went to Whole Foods here in Colorado Springs during my lunch break from work. The place was busy. All the normal lines had customers with a lot of merchandise. I went to the < 15 item line and there was this jack@$$ who had a large cart of stuff. I got very pissed ! The express line got very long. He finally paid and left and I remarked to the cashier that the guy should not have used the line - very inconsiderate. Many people behind me were not happy either ! The cashier tried to hint to the guy but he flat out ignored her. The cashier told me that she was not allowed to directly make a comment to him that he needed to go to the regular line.
I went and talked with management that the cashiers should be allowed to tell the customer not to use the express line when they have a lot of stuff !
In actual reality, the customer who objected to the fat woman’s violation of the 10 item limit should have demanded to see the store manager instead of directly confronting the woman. Just like what I did as per my earlier posting in this thread. I said nothing to the jack@$$ but expressed my displeasure at the management.
The cashier remarks: "Ah, you must be single."
The lady, surprised by the cashiers insight, looks at her groceries, seeing nothing that would give away her status, and replies: "Why yes, but how did you know?"
The cashier shoots back: "You're ugly."
I can't believe the number of FReepers taking the bait here!
People, get a clue.
Harassment is a crime.
Some idiot initiates a spate of verbal harassment with me in public, and he/she has one to deal with one of three options.
Stop, deal with me reacting in any manner I choose, or deal with the cops.
“Stop” would be the safest choice for all concerned.
The second safest choice would be the belligerent fool dealing with the cops.
The least logical consequence is my “taking the law into my own hands”.
This article does not say she called 911.
This article does say the harassment was escalating, but does not say to what level.
And if any idiot thinks they can safely verbally assault a woman, as opposed to a 6'5” 250 pound Marine in uniform....
I would submit they are probably safer insulting the Marine.
But this jerk wouldn't have done that, now would he?
What law are you referring to?
Good one.
Maybe time for a sling not-a-ping
This is the way the nanny staters treated smokers when the political class gave them permission to attack other citizens. It’s like we have rabid dogs in society waiting for the cue to act like...little black shirts. The fatties are getting it now thanks to the bamster’s wife.
I got a funny story though. A prissy medical research marched over to a biker who was smoking at an outside cafe...where it is permitted. The priss got into his face like all the self appointed black shirt citizen aggressive agents do. The biker gave him up to three to move five feet away from his table. I was sitting there thinking, “MOVE, IDIOT.” But he did not move - he kept his high horse parked right there about a foot from the biker. One punch and the priss was out cold.
All the customers (this is Texas) told the police the priss was acting threatening and was told to stop but got more aggressive...Priss got arrested.
Most communities prohibit using 911 for non-emergency calls, and people who abuse the 911 system can be ticketed for it.
Effinger said the man allegedly continued to harass the woman until she called police. You are correct that THIS article simply says she called the police. The other article about this story posted on FR said she called 911.
The ugly know who they are.
I’m almost certain that a fat and ugly barb requires a fat and ugly barber.
I don’t think you’ll get a ticket for that one, Slings, but don’t worry. I’ll bail you out.
What’s wrong with people these days? I’m fat and ugly, but if someone points it out, I just say, “I can diet and wear makeup, but there’s no way to fix your being a rude ashhole.”
You still owe me for throwing your bail!
I came out of there with several new phone numbers for you.
I figured that covered it.
