Wear wristwatch? Use e-mail? Not for Class of '14

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- For students entering college this fall, e-mail is too slow, phones have never had cords and the computers they played with as kids are now in museums.

The Class of 2014 thinks of Clint Eastwood more as a sensitive director than as Dirty Harry urging punks to "go ahead, make my day." Few incoming freshmen know how to write in cursive or have ever worn a wristwatch....

What is my ‘operator’ and how do I ‘dial’ it?

If “95 percent of your time is spent with a cell phone, a computer monitor, house clock, car clock, TV clock and/or etc” you may be a metrosexual!

“A quarter of the class has at least one immigrant parent, and the immigration debate is not a big priority…unless it involves ‘real’ aliens from another planet.”

I call “academic bias”

“Cross-burning has always been deemed protected speech.”

Um, that would be “flag burning”. What were the big cases on “cross burning” legality in the 1990s or 2000s?

“Czechoslovakia has never existed.”

By that turn of phrase, neither did the Berlin Wall.

“Potato has always ended in an “e” in New Jersey per vice presidential edict.”

And oral sex has never been sex, per presidential perjury.

Cellphones are overrated as an emergency device. If you’re on a long car trip you could very well be in a zone with no coverage. Life threatening emergencies are usually over long before helped reached by phone arrives. One of my bosses really proved the long run uselessness of cellphones in emergency, he got one just in case he cracked up on his bike, well eventually he did get in an accident, and landed on the phone breaking it and getting a really nice bruise on his hip from it.

There’s nothing luddite about knowing you’re not a phone person and don’t need to be packing one around. For me it would be a completely useless expense. Even if I got a pay-as-you-go plan I’d still have to keep the stupid thing charged and with me to make zero phone calls.

One more thing this biased “study” neglected to mention, Rush Limbaugh has “always been equal time to the Mainstream media”.

I have seven wristwatches (two are reliable wind-up, no battery), but no cell phone. I always have the correct time on me.

There's an old saying: "A man with one wristwatch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure."

“Rock bands have always played at presidential inaugural parties.”

Democrat presidents have always smoked pot and snorked rails of cocaine.

Are the adopted children of gay couple allowed to seek a divorce from their parents yet?

When we first got married, I awoke many times per week at 3:15 am. Not being able to see the clock, I would awaken my husband who always said it was 3:15, without looking at the clock. Now that I can see the clock on my own, I still awaken within half an hour of that time many times per month.

Wait until your 911 dial reaches your carrier back home and not the people who could be dispatched to your immediate area.

As pay phones went away, police call boxes should have been installed.
