A South Florida teacher is behind bars for a bizarre traffic arrest.
Joann Tomas -a Dr. William Chapman Elementary Spanish teacher -was reportedly driving along South Homestead Boulevard when she was pulled over for swirving lanes.
After she was handcuffed, she ripped them off and threw them at an officer and kicked him in the groin before she was tasered twice.
Tomas claims she was taking Xanax because she was studying to be an assistant principal.
She's been charged with battery on a police officer and resisting arrest with violence. She's being held on 5-thousand-dollars bond for each charge.
I want to know why she was handcuffed to begin with.
They say they stopped her for changing lanes(swerving)
She should have just been given a ticket. Did she act
up before she was handcuffed?

Yes, I read that she was on Xanax, what I didn’t read was any behavior that required her to be handcuffed. She went wild afterward, can’t say I blame her, I would be a little pissed at being handcuffed for a traffic stop myself. Now, she may or may not have acted up prior to handcuffing but there was no mention of it. Terrible reporting, but that seems to be normal in today’s world.

Great assistant-principal material. She’s taking a drug that supposedly reduces anxiety and panic attacks. Why should we have anyone sane looking after our kids?
