That ambiguous ending of Battlestar Galactica sure stirred up a lot of debate. (A debate that's still going on.) Whether you loved it or hated it, it sure got people talking. And one of the hottest topics was: What really happened to Starbuck?

The hottest question is: why did they spread two series worth of script over the entire run?
Went downhill after series #1. Briefly very good during the Pegasus period. Then clearly went into potboiler mode.
Wasted opportunity, though at least it showcased some new acting talent (Sackoff and others)

What really happened to Starbuck?I assume you mean the new Battlestar Gallactica? That's an easy question. She became a mole working for the Russians in CTU and Jack Bauer gunned her down in cold blood in one of the last episodes of 24.

And so I just made a choice to go out on a more ambiguous note, and to let people argue about it perpetually. What the frack!?!

The ending to that show was lame. Everyone decides to live like cavemen because Lee Adama says so. And nobody thinks that’s a terrible idea.

In other words, he hadn't a frickin' clue. He made it ambiguous because he didn't know where the hell it was going. (It showed.)
And it wasn't a Christlike resurrection in the slightest.
For one thing: THEY FOUND HER BODY so it wasn't a case of resurrection at all.

Yep. They decided that having sex with filthy cavemen was more important than saving your entire culture. And they just pretty much ignored the fate of the Cylons.

WORST MAKE IT ALL UP AS YOU GO ALONG ENDING IN TV HISTORY!
Best 1st Season in TV History.
As soon as the worthless hack RDM ran out of the original story from which to plagiarize, his story died a slow and painful death.

I could see their just not having the infrastructure to recreate their technological society. HOWEVER, they WOULD have had enough to create a society at the level of the 1700's, and would have been able to advance to 1900's technology in a few generations, particularly if their primary priority would have been to preserve information.
They would have needed to have just a few bits of info, like "how to identify likely places for iron ore and coal deposits". Given the ability to find ore and coal, lots of stuff follows quickly.

I never got interested in the new BSG. Seemed like a soap opera in space, to me.
Hubby and I have enjoyed watching "Caprica". We got the back story about how the Cylons came about. It also answered the question I always had about why the Cylons referenced the One God, but the humans followed a pantheistic religion.

The problem is, the viewpoint of the episode is that modern society is a bad thing, it will only lead to the modern vices of America and then to a Caprica level of vice, finally to Cylons and extermination. So the only way to win was to not play the game.

Something like the new version of “The Day The Earth Stood Still”, where at the end something like an EMP stops all earthly technology. Unviewed is what happens next, when 99% of the Earth’s population starves to death.
